Female protagonist? It's a no brainer. People have been talking about that for years and while its unlikely that they'd do gta game where the sole protagonist is a woman, having multiple protags with one of them being a woman seems like a very safe guess. It's an idea that's been floating around this forum forever.

 

Crypto? I think it would be silly to assume that crypto wouldn't be somehow involved. Its the big thing right now and rockstar always try to satirise the current zeitgeist.

 

Even the fortnite style expanding map isn't exactly revelatory given that rockstar already started doing that with gta online with the cayo perico expansion, seems like the natural extension of the format and was probably a test run for gta vi, another idea that's been around for a while.

 

And the drawing that he did that was supposedly based on real concept art he had seen did not look like concept art to me, it looked like promotional art, the kind of thing you see on magazine covers billboards and desktop wallpapers once the marketing starts. If release is so far out why would there be promo images already.

 

It just made me think about the rdr2 leaks that turned out to be true and how substantial they were. The whole map and a screenshot of black belle's hut got leaked before the game was even announced and then later some guy basically leaked the entire plot.  The fake leaks are always obvious and sparse with the details.

 

Don't know how much difference this makes if the release date has been corroborated but I guess don't take everything he says in the future as gospel. 

 

One more thing to add: The idea of a fortnite style map that expands over the course updates was already mentioned by Jason Schreier back in April 2020. Henderson just repeated something that Schreier already said so of course he's gonna be able to corroborate it. It's so easy to convince people that a leak is real if you just list a buncha things people are already expecting.

Yeah,  you're most likely right. Last year's Q2 call was on 5th November so October is a good time announce to something.

 

Edit : I hope they'll add some VI related easter eggs in the E&E version.

There's a reason why they announced GTA V, RDR2 and RDR2 PC all in October.

 

Any future announcements are likely to be made in October, unless there's delays that push them to March or so.

I feel like it'll be similar to how MP3 had some GTA 5 files and easter eggs.  Surely E&E will have at least some leftover GTA 6 files (I'd assume they tested stuff in the GTA 5 build) and Rockstar likes easter eggs, so maybe theres a few new ones hidden around.

I'd be fine with this as long as it isn't purely GTAO-centered.

To be a bit less cynical, I could see GTA 6 becoming this constantly updated game with SP updates. It'll make money, cut down on costs and let R* focus on other games, plus the hardware would allow for it.

They also have to aim to maximize impact and reach of any piece of information within the target consumers, which are more important than investors because the whole business spin around them. (What's the point of having super enthusiastic and happy investors if the people that will actually buy the game doesn't find out about your product at a proper time and in a proper way?) People need to create expectations with a precise time of advance (not so early because they could loss interest and no so late because information about its existence might not spread enough and launch dates are still the most important weeks). They meticulously and almost scientifically choose that timing. It's not the same announcing something on Christmas, than on New Year, than on early December, than prior to Black Friday, for example, even if the announcement happens with two years of anticipation of the actual release. That's the reason why they tend to make announcements and release the vast majority of their games on Tuesdays. And I'm pretty sure that October being their predilect month has much more to do with those market analysis than with investor reports (even though I'm aware the'yre important and myself predicted accurately with my friends the exact day for the reveal of RDR2 release date based almost solely on that).

 

Furthermore, this time we're talking about a game that has already been announced and which we know is coming on November 11th. I can assure you that we will know much more about Expanded and Enhanced in September as the latest scenario (I'd bet for August), unless it turns out to be a mediocre port. And if remakes or remasters are real and they plan to launch them inmminently this year, we also should hear about them by the same dates. 

Also, keep in mind that it's absolutely not the same to advance an announcement because of investor calls (like might have happened in January 2013 and January 2018) than to delay it for the same reasons (postpone an announcement that's ideal to make in August to late October because of that wouldn't make sense... after all, they could also present it in their reports whenever they happen as long as they're due to happen afterwards nevertheless).

I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if we got official news somewhere around October 12th, a month from release. Similar to RDR2 PC being announced a month ahead of release. And I have no idea when any GTA III or trilogy remaster would be announced. I don't personally think any of those games would need a lot of time for marketing at all. They're old games, and with how active and connected modern social media is, I think they could get away with short gaps between announcing/revealing and releasing those games. It's just so hard to predict. Most companies out there are leaving things late until they announce or show anything, these days, since COVID-19 happened.

Hmm, that's true. But still, there are rather unsubtle differences between this remaster and RDR2 PC. 

(-Strauss saying it's not a "simple port". RDR2 PC was the same game with sensibly better configurable presets). 
(-They having announced it one and a half years prior to the launch! - sorry, still can't get over this)
(-Having all the pressure of the community after the unprecedented poor reception of yet another version of GTAV... they know they can't launch the same game with higher resolution and slightly better textures and effects without being massacred by their own hardcore fans, so they might want to prepare something big. And I believe that, the bigger the project, the most likely they need to present it with larger time of advance). 
(-Having labeled it themselves as "Expanded and Enhanced" leads me to think they're aiming for something much more important than a PC version, and even more disruptive compared with its antecessors than the PS4/XOne remaster was to the original PS360 versions).

That's why I don't expect anything until close to release. It's been that long and what we've seen from it is exactly: Zero.

I'm not so much being pessimistic, just trying to interpret how they see it and are seemingly dealing with it. There's only 4 months to go, anyway.

If these rumors about the release date being 2024/2025 from the so-called semi-reliable sources are true, then we'll definitely not hear anything official before late 2022 at minimum. Online will continue to thrive on the new consoles and the player base is only getting bigger and more engaged. This will translate into a fine and well-polished VI product, and probably surpassing the fineness and polishness of Redemption 2.
