Which bothers me. We don't know nothing about what happens post 2001 with the exception of those promo sites that extend the 3D timeline to about 2004 (unseen). 

 

A San Andreas Stories game set around 2002-2007 would tie up loose ends.

Just a thought: There are journalists, and then there are journalists. I guess it's the difference between Youtubing for kicks and clicks, or diligently doing things like double-verifying sources of info, building up a network of contacts, always being sceptical rather than sensational, curating a dialogue between analytical sources (rather than just passively quoting them), calling out issues etc.
 
That reminds me of a recent interview that the oft-devisive Jason Schreirer gave to Inverse recently.
 
Even though good journalists can be decried as absolute cretins, they can sometimes be the truth we need to make the changes we want to see. They can pay a price for that.

"I don't really think it's any big secret that they're working on another GTA. I don't know what their feelings are towards me, but it probably has more to do with the reporting I was doing a few years ago about crunch, and other reporting on Jeronimo Barerra and on the frathouse culture they have over there. Who knows what they're thinking."

Schreier is literally one of the biggest scumbags in games journalism. He isn't 'paying a price'. Rockstar wants nothing to do with him because to his own admission there, he spends an inordinate amount of time slandering them and attempting to bully them into submission to his woke orthodoxy with bad publicity. He does this with impunity and literally pays no price. He's not a journalist, he's a muckraker.

That answer isn't really about the protagonists dying after the events of the games but the fact that during the games themselves we systematically slaughter large portions of the cast. They wanted to start with a fresh cast rather than one where all the good characters had already been picked off. Pretty safe bet a lot of the characters we don't see die didn't last pretty long afterwards though. Even ones you might think would have a good few years left. Look what they did to Johnny after all. From gang leader, gang war, civil war, prison raid, etc to useless meth addled simp in 5 years flat. If Rockstar ever told us what happened to these characters it would probably be insulting sh*t like Toni dying while taking a sh*t Elvis style or Tommy getting his dick ripped off by the printing press.

Man i hope rockstar doesn't scratch 1980s singleplayer idea and move to modern day . 1970s , 1980s , 2010s > Modern Day .

I don't mind the multiplayer to be in modern day tho 

aslo considering rdr2 has long time jump in the middle as well i think they are gonna do 80s to 2010s in single player and multiplayer will move towards modern day with dlcs . Hopefully rockstar will make a long ass game 80 hours atleast cuz we ain't getting a new gta for a long time after Gta 6 .

everyone dont like him just because  he said the game is in early development  which was true last year. 

as for him slandering rockstar it was just reporting the facts rockstar it was well known there was issues over the hours people put in over rdr 2 development .

Schreier being respected at all let alone 'one of the most respected' is a perfect argument for why the entire games journalism industry is a joke.

To be fair, Schreier isn't particularly respected, it's just that "gaming journalism" is a joke to begin with. The bar is set very low, so riff raff ends up being the cream of the crop anyway.

I think we're in agreement on that. People were making fun of him last night for being wrong about a 'Switch Pro' reveal and I was reminded of one of his greatest hits.

I really don't understand why you find calling out abusive working practices to be so objectionable. That's a rare example in the gaming industry of good journalism. It objectively brought about change for the better, and eventually it was to the credit of Rockstar too for acknowledging a problem with the poor way some staff were treated and then acting on it. How is that a bad thing? It's not a difficult or particularly nuanced concept to grasp.

 

For some reason Schreier clearly makes you very emotional, so I guess there's no point discussing this further.

I'd say GTA VI will probably focus more on the East coast of Florida, unless they decide to deform it a bunch and include a Tampa-like city. Maybe stuff like Orlando, Daytona Beach, etc if they wanna go further North than Miami.
