man it would ruin my experience if they don't do a reset on online . I personally think that gta 6 won't have a online mode and they will release a standalone version of online with gta 5 map and gta 6 map combined and they will give it for free to owners of gta 6

GTAO lost a lot of its appeal after rank 120, when there was nothing left to unlock. I'm surprised they never added extra incentives to rank up. After 120 I didn't care at all about RP, whereas before it I was grinding RP to unlock everything. GTA6 Online will surely be a reset of rank at least with new things to unlock. Perhaps there's a way to keep current things from GTAO and do this too? I dont know.

The thing with having your online progress carry over to the next title is that it would require a ton of resources, possibly leading to a higher prioritization of the online mode. When they already have a lot of trouble pulling off the single-player experience. That's just like one reason not to do that. I'm sure there are financial reasons too, if we are to assume the next phase of online would also have a long-ass lifespan.

I just hope the focus will shift to criminality again instead of being somesort of an antiheroes avengers group... All those over the top weapons, orbital lasers (WTF), flying motorbikes with rockets literally destroyed all of the previous updates/add ons.

No one plays the drugs trafficking/ weapons trafficking or car trafficking missions anymore. Why would you? A kid will 99% of the time blow you up. You are a sitting duck with a big red target on you for the entire player base to see. 
Just give a PvE option and 9/10 problems will be fixed. 

 

But damn honestly... just keep GTA VI online 'boots on the ground' and less over the top.

They can always introduce a new secondary currency (like RDO's Gold Bars) in next gen GTAO to get that money flowing. That way they can carry over the progression to next GTAO or whatever and still push players to buy MTX.

In this article Zelnick talks about how they supported NBA 2K Online 1 and 2 simultaneously in China.

Now GTAV/O is getting E&E version that presumably improves it's engine closer to Red Dead 2 and also making a standalone GTAO SKU I wonder what they're going to do with it in coming years. Adding map expansions to it is the easiest way to both increase the longevity of the game and retain players. Hell as I said before a new currency would work well too in their favor. The other option is to support GTAO and a hypothetical GTAO2 simultaneously. I believe we'll get an answer from what E&E actually is.

People misinterpret this all the time. Rockstar won't allow you to carry over all your progress, such as clothes, vehicles, weapons, etc. But it's almost certain there will just be a returning player bonus. Such as starting GTA Online 2 with a bonus 1,000,000 GTA$. Perhaps more if you reached a certain RP. That's about it.

 

It incentivizes people to pick up GTA V if they haven't already, to play and secure a small little bonus in GTA VI. Not to mention the potential single player rewards, like the golden revolver treasure hunt in GTA Online for RDR2 story mode.

This is one of the reasons I'm almost sure there will be cross-promotion in the GTA Online E&E version when the time comes. If not straight up put bits of GTA VI into the map to tease people, perhaps even Cayo Perico. That would be cool. Have a heist in a GTA VI small island without knowing it's from GTA VI, until the game releases and you can visit it freely and do stuff there.

Personally I don't care about GTA Online but I think, that it could be good idea for Rockstar to have more than one timeline in GTA VI Online in the future. One where the game is set in current time which would be more grounded and one in the future where almost anything goes like orbital cannons, flying cars, flying bikes and all those futuristic things.

If they transfer my progress and money and I don't earn a single penny ever from now on I would have enough to buy everything up untill GTA 8 Online is released in 2096.

I think, that at best people should get car (not the best one) and small house maybe (that they can't sell of course), nothing that would ruin balance of new game.

The in game currency for GTAO2 will be a new Rockstar cryptocurrency and in order to carry over your money from GTAO you'll have to convert it into Rockstarcoin and they'll keep 10% of everything you earn.

This is one of the reasons I'm very excited for E&E, of course there won't be any obvious hints but still, maybe people can dig into the PC version of E&E to find something of interest.

 

Speaking of which what do you guys think about the of PC version of E&E? They haven't mentioned anything about so I wonder when we'll see that and when we do, would it cost full price or maybe a little lower for people who already own the game?, Considering it would be a small upgrade to the existing PC version.
