Perfect drifting in GTA Online?

Can any of you give me tips on drifting cars in GTA Online?

I tried using the Futo with the Driftmeister Tuner tire. Once I tried drifting the car, I always fail. I even tried it on a Banshee. So any tips? Thanks :)

Use handbrake and try a muscle car.

Yep, I'm doing it

Okay, sure. But what I want is street racers such as the Elegy RH8, Feltzer, Sultan RS etc.

Futo can be a good one to practice, make sure you have turbo/engine/transmission upgrades on it though so it's easier to power out of the slide.

Do I need to lower the suspensions?

I have always found the Warrener to be a good car to practice a bit of drifting,

And as strange as it sounds the Dubsta 6x6 is a Drift King, seriously.

But to be honest the drifting physics in gta are a bit naff.

Up to you really

I heard that suspention is important at drifting, idk if that's true

Here is a existing subject that has discussed this more in depth.

There are tons on videos on youtube. But don't expect much. Generally you can't drift in GTA without mods and it's pretty bad even with the mods.

Of the 'more recent' cars (last few dlc only) i would recommend "Sultan Classic" or "Penumbra FF", those are fun to drift. If you play with controller (or you are good with a keyboard) then sports classic cars might be good for drifting too, but in general i think those are 'too slippery', half the time you dont have control and they just spin out, that can look cool, but feels nothing like 'drifting' (controlled sliding) in other cars.

Shout-out to the Itali RSX, that thing is weird as hell, if u slam the handbrake while going in a straight line its like nothing happens, but if u slam the handbrake and turn you will slide for days

I do agree with @MechanicMammal that you should actually just use that other thread, no offense etc, most of us just dont like seeing multiple threads about the same subject (because then when people with questions come, like you in this case, they will have to read multiple threads and/or people will have to repeat the same stuff over and over again. Ideally we would want all information to be in the same thread)

@Mach1bud if i may be so bold to ask, could you merge this topic onto the other one? :D

Boyo is playing on ps3.

At best you can only power slide into corners at high speeds. And suspension, tires, wheels don't affect anything so idk where you heard that from.

I got that from YouTube

GTA 5 tires affects your car's grip and traction. Wheel types aren't just for design, man.

Only incredibly slightly, and if I remember correctly, the larger the tire sidewall, the more grip you have? Either way, it certainly doesn't affect the physics in this game too much.

You're better off playing Gran Turismo 6

Sidewall doesn't affect grip directly. It affects how the car reacts to bumps (and not even all cars). On perfectly flat road, it does exactly nothing. But hey, if you have fun swapping tires, sure, go ahead. It's not easy to get fun out of this game these days, so good for you.

It has to have the "tyres can clip" flag.

But OzackiLeona is correct it only effects how the car handles bumps, if it has the flag!.

And the tyre with the largest sidewall will take bumps/kerbs better (normally offroad tyres).

Yes they are for design most of the time,

If you want to get good facts from Youtube check out this guys channel.

Here is a recent video of his which explains about flags.

Unfortunatly this bit wont help you because you are on PS3, but I bought the Weevil yesterday and that seems to slide ok. Performance upgrades (Engine/turbo/brakes/Trans) no spoiler.

Stock other than that except I lowered it by 1.

Suspension does have some effect on handling. If you're trying to drift, having the center of mass lower will make the car slide more. On some cars you can break the suspension by shooting the rims or just kicking the side of the wheels to lower it even more, such as the Futo. Here's a demo with the Banshee 900R with the normal suspension and after I kicked it in

https://streamable.com/33n17n

Another one with the Nebula Turbo, first one is with the suspension lowered and the second one is with the higher stock suspension. You don't really get the same amount of wheelspin when it's higher up

Oh yeah and also don't add a spoiler on the car, as it will add traction

One trick that I've seen no one mention is using the handbrake along with the standard brake. I've noticed with a lot of cars that using just the handbrake can make the slide out of control or do a 180 spin. Whenever I need to so a power slide or drift through a curve, I start the slide with the handbrake then about 1-2 seconds later hit the standard brake to help maintain control.

Hit the standard brake slightly? I use a console controller btw

I'm on Xbox. I hit the hand brake (the A button for my settings) and then I hit LT (the standard brake in my settings). It works best on the fast vehicles.

Again, check youtube for videos on gta drifting. It's not something which can be easily explained in words.
