You can interfere with their long distance trade and moonshine missions although you won't get a notification of any going on around you if you are in defensive. If their campsite flag is down they can be attacked while they are in camp and if they have any stolen npc wagons you can take it but the free roam hunting or bounty wagons are usually not able to be stolen. Players are likely to make their horses/vehicles only accessible to them, you might find a player not aware that they can do that but most know to do that now.

Pretty much the only way to get yourself a free roam carriage/wagon in this game is to either have the Trader/Bounty Hunter role and buy the ones available for those jobs or you have to steal an npc one. Although I haven't had much luck keeping the stolen ones for too long before the wheels just fall off and the horses flee. 😉

If their flag is up in camp, they can still be attacked at a distance/sniped because Rockstar is bad.

I've had that happen to me (on Xbox, so it wasn't hacking either.)

Like Direwrath said, it notifies you when you can "go offensive" to take their NPC wagon or delivery wagon.

I think this is why so many players, most very low level, try to do this since Online was only $4; they

probably feel the game is telling them to do it.

Attacking trader deliveries when not prompted (so the player is doing a local one/usually is defensive), is pointless for you (since you don't get anything)

and "griefing" for the party being attacked.

It accomplishes nothing, well except to grief, because all that person has to do is leave session/quick join a takeover series

or something and then come back/change session and do the full delivery again.

I've never been long shot killed at camp, most of the morons try throwing the fire bottles or dynamite at me while I'm there or to get my horse to flee. But I've heard of others having that same problem as well. 🙄

One thing I've noticed a couple of times is people doing camp sales in defensive mode. You are obviously going to be far more vulnerable to attack in defensive mode but I'm still surprised it doesn't happen more.

Its kind of a double edged sword, I've found:

If I'm in OFFENSIVE, people tend to just attack me; it is really odd, like they think they are supposed to?

This is when doing a delivery (not the long distance one)/whatever or when just getting out of a PVP thing into free roam.

Meanwhile, if I'm in DEFENSIVE and doing a trader delivery and they DO attack I can't lock-aim on them (and

I'm horrible at free-aim) It seems they attack much less though, if I'm in defensive. So I stick with that.

I've also found that If I hit offensive right away (when some free-aim enthusiast is attacking me, while I'm defensive), then keep going, I might have enough time for it to switch to

offensive and explosive round the person with a lock-aim. Often they are just doing a grief, though, with their main

objective being to just blow up your wagon/moonshine (while you are in defensive, so they gain nothing and it really is just "griefing.")

If they do blow it up, I'll just wilderness camp/fast travel to my camp or quick join a takeover series and then drop back to free roam.

It makes more sense to do that, then start a delivery again, then waste time with revenge.

Luckily, it has happened to me once in a blue moon in the Hennington's Stead area (on Xbox One.)

When I AM in offensive because I'm doing a "long distance delivery", with 1 Goods (for a long distance delivery wagon daily/wagon distance daily),

then I find the player who comes after me is almost ALWAYS obviously low level (I'm 399 or 400); it is clear they got a prompt to go offensive

to see "a rivals mission" and took the bait, thinking they were supposed to. So they are usually very easy to deal with, killing with explosive rounds

twice or so and then they give up.
