You can ride/use a stolen or captured horse during the game though but if you do missions etc, you will lose that horse and have to get another. I've actually used a secondary horse for a pack horse when I go hunting. ventogt and Krommer

Krommer
The worst part is the donkey/mule? also disappears, even if you fast travel. They are way more rare than horses. Those are kind of fun to ride, if you bump into one. I managed to hitch one at my camp, but then it disappeared when I walked away a bit =/ Hmm, I never tried to pack an animal on the donkey, but have done it with horses like you said (riding it with your horse following, with animals on it.) You can't even keep/stable the donkey in single player, either =/ Edited April 6, 2021 by Krommer Rockstarsucks33 and Direwrath

I do not have a donkey emote so I had to use a zebra... Krommer, Rockstarsucks33 and ventogt

Dark Spark
If you wreck your wagon doing a Trader delivery and have more than one bundle to deliver, try to grab and ride the draft horse who was pulling your wagon before whistling for your main horse. You can ride the wagon horse and have your main horse follow, each one carrying a Goods bundle. This is as close as you get to 'owning' a second horse without buying one. Krommer
I rode a "Mule" for the first time, it was by Emerald Ranch (for some reason.) Unlike the donkeys, its stamina runs out nearly instantly and it starts bucking (with no way to give it more.) 37 minutes ago, Dark Spark said: try to grab and ride the draft horse who was pulling your wagon before whistling for your main horse. Whoa, that actually never occurred to me Good idea, if I mess up on the Long Distance one I'm doing just for the distance and there is more than one bag after I blow up the wagon (almost always just one bag, but could be two at most.) If I have more than one or two bags, I have the full load; so usually just quick join something/return to camp and have the full local delivery again. I've only had to do that a couple times, when I was going down the fairly wide railroad bridge on a Thieves' Landing delivery and the stupid horse veers off.
