bananaking13
Its not the happiest ending, but I think it should have been the only choice you got or you got to either pick it or ending A. Ending C was too good. It felt like the game just asking you to not be stupid enough to not pick it, but I think ending B is the coldest, most realistic and possibly most fitting ending. Michael is easily the dumbest character in the game. He goes on so many heists, does so much stuff just to get richer and he almost never needed to do them. And not just that, he set up everyone just to get his own life away in the hills, axed Brad & nearly Trevor, had a very bad temperament. Ending B is cold. The student kills the master. Michael's family have to live without him, and that is a tragedy you rarely see play a huge part in a GTA plot. Trevor finally kills his man, but feels huge remorse about it. This is the true tie all loose ends ending: Franklin, Trevor and Lamar just go on to do what they normally do. In the end of ending C, Michael says "hes getting too old for this sh*t", but what we know is that there is a cycle going on. Michael will be back to do a heist later, and he will pull Trevor & Franklin into his BS and still get killed. We know Trevor and Michael are still on horrible terms, but both of them are cool with Franklin. In ending B, Trevor looks down on Franklin but overall he doesn't not understand him. Everyone who went against Michael wins. The tennis coach ruins his life, while Devin & the FIB get away. Anyone can sexually exploit Tracey now, and Amanda will live with the guilt she killed Michael. It's a very painful reality, but the entire plotline builds up to this. I don't like ending A that much, it doesn't make any sense at all to be honest, but the whole pick a ending thing felt like it was just there to add more than one ending. It really only meant something when the game first came out and nobody knew that Franklin survives in ending C. I think ending B is more poetic and painful than C or A. In A, Michael kills Trevor. In a way, Michael and Trevor are each other's antagonists. Trevor has absolutely no morals whatsoever and looks down on Michael for wanting to live a happy life, while Michael sh*ts on everyone who tries to ruin his happiness and looks down on Trevor who doesn't want Michael's "heaven". Michael wouldn't even hate Trevor that much if it weren't to him eating human stew either. But hey, that's just my opinion. JaeDan 101
Hell no, I disagree. Michael is one of my favorite characters MrPikmin16
billiejoearmstrong8
I agree! The most emotionally affecting ending, and the irony of Franklin backstabbing the backstabber who mentored him is good stuff. After making you feel guilty as hell for making the choice throughout the entire chase, the icing on the cake is them dangling what looks like a last chance to change your mind in front of your nose at the last moment (the choice whether to drop Michael or pull him up), only for you to discover it's too late and whichever you pick the outcome is the same. Brutal. And it also reveals Trevor as the truly the most loyal and decent of the three in the end, being disgusted at the idea of helping to kill Michael and refusing to have anything to do with it, while meanwhile Franklin goes ahead and murders the guy who says he was "like a son to him" and Michael doesn't hesitate to suggest they both go after Trevor instead. Then the aftermath going back to freeroam with Michael gone and his house for sale, Trevor wanting nothing to do with you, finding your powerful contacts have dropped you so your "career" is over, Lamar is in hiding fearing for his life, and there's a series of disturbing/sad phone calls and emails from people disapproving of you or in mourning (including Jimmy tearfully asking you if you killed his dad, like damn). And you don't even get Michael's share of the heist money as compensation as it goes to his family. It's a deliciously evil and depressing ending with no humour to dilute it in sight, a welcome twist to end a story that usually held back on going all in with the misery. Bratva Assassin
Endings A and B are definitely both more tragic endings to the game. There's no doubt about it. I actually somewhat agree with the OP because for a game like GTA, I would actually prefer a tragic ending over a happy one. I mean., they're criminals. We shouldn't expect them to just walk off in the sunlight like nothing ever happened. Pretty much every GTA game prior to V had a tragic ending, which is hence why I think A and B are actually quite good and underrated endings. I much prefer the narrative of B (and A) but I do still go with C for a main/100% save. I still think ending C should've made you lose something to balance things better though. If there was a serious consequence such as losing all the Big Score money or them all becoming poor somehow as a balance for not losing a protagonist, or even if they went all in and had Franklin die in it, I'd take that even if it meant not having that totally happy and convenient ending option. Americana
I agree. I think that Ending B is the most dramatic one and the most realistic one, too.

Raelexx
I only use ending C because I don't want my future story/trophy progression to be messed up. From a story focused meaningful perspective you are speaking the truth.
