What is your timeline for the story of SA?

On my previous playthrough of SA I took my time and tried to do all 100% content as I did the storyline missions. Around the 3/4 mark I got a call from Sweet talking about how hard prison was for him. After the call I opened my stats to see that I had been playing for 370 in game days. Sweet had been in prison nearly an entire year and I still hadn't rescued him. It added a lot of weight to his words and made me feel like how the game wanted me to feel I think.

The thing is though the fact that I had played 370 in game days at that point was a total coincidence. In fact, I guarantee my first playthrough of the game took less than 200 in game days total so Sweet probably sounded a little bitchy. I'm sure there are other players out there that went 1,000 days before that point and probably had a real borked feeling story timeline. So what's the sweet spot? What timeline of the SA story evokes the strongest emotions and makes the most sense?

Personally I think the game starts around late 1991/VERY early 1992. The reason I believe the game is set between this time period is due to the Los Angeles riots which started in April 29th '92 and ended in May 4th of '92.

But some of the songs on the radio, such as "It Was a Good Day", came out in late 1992.

I suppose then by the game's logic the riots have been pushed all the way to Autumn.

1992 to 1994 for me. Free roam is from 1994 - 1998.

Where is the time jump coming in?

When you say "Free Roam" do you mean completing the 100% content after finishing the story? If so, how long would CJ be in each portion of the game during the main story? (LS, Country, SF, Desert, LV, LS) And if you're willing, what is CJ's timeline post game too? I imagined the Import/Export being CJ improving his business until "it's made him" a millionaire. So I can see that taking a while but I'm curious what you think.

So, being born in 1980, my favorite years were 1996 on, so for me, thats when it starts. Granted the riots they reference we're 4 years earlier, but remember its BASED on a real story, meaning like all other movies/etc that say that, we have a rough idea of what happened, and then fill it in with made up sh*t. I have some cars installed as late as 98, which is pushing it, but its my multiverse. <(^_^v)
