Singleplayer ruined after update 😡

Recommended Posts

After much hesitation, I desired to update RDR2. It was a huge mistake and now there is no going back: NPC:s, animals, and vehicles appear from thin air 50-100 meters in front of me. The pop-ups is almost as bad as in GTA: San Andreas.

What the heck is this? It totally destroy the immersion. I wonder if this ever will be fixed.

In the 1.26 update. Not just gangmambers in the camp, every npc you see, tells you to wear warm clothes :D and rockstar doesnt even care since 2 months

Weird, is this PS4? Xbox? I'm not having this pop up issue on PC.

I am told by gang members to wear warmer clothes though, lol I just shrugged it off.

It's worse than I thought then. If you're alone and commit a crime an NPC might appear from thin air and then becoming a witness. When I was wanted I have lawmen spawning about 200 meters away from me - I could literally see it. Plus, dead animal corpses spawn a half meter in the air right in front of me.

Please, please be kind and send a ticket to Rockstar. That increases the chances that it gets fixed:

And yes - I have cleared my cache - 3 times!

Rockstar doesnt care about support tickets since GTA Online.

I personally dislike ALL HDR, so they can keep that one. But agreed about the rest. No horses have manes and I had to download a hotfix driver to fix the black dots on faces. I have always had issues with their shadows and pop ins since GTA V, and RDR 2 is no exception. Even the best hardware has the exact same issues. It's pathetic really. I have tweaked and tweaked and then retweaked settings in the .XML file and even tried various other modes like compatibility, disabling windows stuff, and pretty much everything else you can try on PC. Nothing fixes it. This game almost looks better at a variation of lower/medium and some high settings because you get less crap screwing up the frame times and popping in randomly.

Really sad. Since building my 10700k/3060 ti build, I cannot even play GTA V the shadow draw is so terrible. I'll go occasionally and suck it up on RDR2, but sometimes it's unbearable and after this most recent update, it's worse than ever. When cards that can run these games on Ultra everything are having to downscale lower than Hardware Unboxed settings, it's not the builds, it's the game.

Fix your f*cking sh*t Rockstar.

Is this an update in the last week?  Been about that long since I've had a chance to play.

PS4.

Had to turn off HDR-made it impossible for me to play  [[in the early morning game time going thru Sandy Knees]] as the Sunbeams made movement imppossible without risking running people over/getting a bounty.

I do have vision issues so Pop-ins I might assume I simply did not see them-happens all the time going fast for me, suddenly there is a wagon, hoese, fence or whatever for me to hit.

If you have a sufficient good HDR TV RDR2 HDR looks better than SDR - but it requires tweaking because HDR is poorly implemented into the game.

You must use Game Mode HDR. Paper white must be set to max e.i 500. If you go any lower you will gradually decrease the white level causing the game to loose color and making the world look flat. The downside is that 500 paper white will increase the black level causing the game to look washed out. To solve this issue you must manually decrease the black level on your TV to the appropiate level. Peak brightness should be increased until the whole rockstar logo completely dissapear - even if it overexpose the clouds in the test image. The old test image is outdated and was there for the fake HDR e.i cinematic mode so do not use that.

Last, ensure that you've calibrated HDR on your console or PC. On Xbox one must ensure that 10bit is selected because RDR2 HDR is run at 10bit color. White level/contrast on TV must be set to max to get that peak brightness. I have followed these steps. The game looks far more vibrant than in SDR. It does not look washed out at all - if I go into a cave, with no light sources, it is pitch dark. If it's daytime its really bright. Both bright and dark parts of the screen (such as lights and shadows) really pop especially in the moonlight. Saint Denis looks absolutely stunning at night.

By the way - here is the answer I got from Rockstar. I will test this to see if it will fix the issue I have with pop-ups.

Hello Toni-Cipriani,

Thank you for contacting Rockstar Support.

We understand that you are reaching out to us regarding an in-game issue with Story Mode play. We can certainly help you with this.

This may be a result of the game not being able to interpret the state of a most recent save. If so, you can attempt to resolve it by forcing a save using the instructions below and then reloading the game.

The following steps will navigate through the save menu while the loading screen is up and in-game audio can be heard:

  • Start the game
  • Wait a few minutes to allow the loading screens to start

When you can hear the in-game audio and see the repeating loading screens:

  • Press the Start button on your controller
  • Press the D-pad key down 4 times
  • Press A
  • Wait a minute or so for the save

You should then be able to force the save to load using the following steps:

  • Press the Start button on your controller
  • Press the D-pad key down 4 times
  • Press the D-pad right once
  • Press A

A pop-up should appear asking if you are sure you want to load the save.

  • Press A to confirm and load the save.

Hope this helps! Should you require any further assistance, please feel free to get back to us.

Best regards,

Danish N.

It's been 3 months since the last update and this weather dialogue bug is beyond irritating.

I doubt they'll fix it soon. Look how long it took for them to fix Seamus' table.

Also I think since the update, they have fixed the Moonstone Pond Missouri Fox Trotter glitch.

That's a good one. This is whole new level of Rockstar support incompetence.

I've been watching various streamers walkthrough, after one of the latest updates in the beginning of mission The Wheel (starts right after Red Dead Redemption) you can see deers by the water glitching as hell 😆

Funny, on 1.00 they NEVER tell me to put on warmer clothes, no matter where the camp is or how I'm dressed. They will bitch at me if I wear a coat in the heat though.

I dont get why this would even be a thing. Colter is the only cold camp, and you cant change your clothes while youre there
