XP seems to be the root of draw dist/F.L. probs

i just HAD win2003 installed but i went back to xp and the game didnt seem to be streaming the high detail stuff properly even with frame limiter on the game would stop when i was driving fast and give me a split second loading thing once in a while... in win2003 it never did that.. so im assuming either the game has probs with XP or XP has probs with the game... i tried the running in compatibility solution, and while it works, the game runs too choppy compared as to running it in win2003... i think im going to switch back

you might not notice any problems, perhaps either because you haven't seen the game running at its best under another OS, or you have a blazing fast PC. If you have a fast PC though, you should run the game in win98 compatibility and it should run better... im running at 810MHz with a 64MB GF3 and 256 RAM, and I noticed a difference when using compatibilty mode in terms of draw distance, and i just reinstalled windows 2003 now (DONT bother installing this unless you are an advanced user!;) and it runs faster and gives me better draw distances... GTA3 also allows me to run in [email protected] instead of 800x600 in XP, and doesnt give me the missing ground problems when im running it in win2003

mer cinder

Which version of XP are you running, I am running pro, and the comparison between home and pro is pro is substantially better.

I've also noticed the lack of quality in my friends version, he has home and I have pro. But he's souping up his computer soon so mine will be put to shame.

i have windows xp profressional, and windows 2003 server standard edition.. obviously most people wouldnt be able to get a copy of win2003, so i think maybe we should get the attention of rockstar and microsoft of either a major bug in XP or a major but in VC which causes for subpar performance/graphics in the game, especially on mid-to-low range systems

Win 2003 ?!?!

whatta hell is that?!

Win 2003 is a new version of Windows that is floating around in a pretty decent beta form.  It is not Longhorn, but an intermediate product.

I may be wrong - this is just how a techie friend of mine who works for Novell explained to me.  After he offered me a copy. No thanks - I don't need an unsupported beta OS.

well... being that I'm still a beta tester for win2k3, I guess I should download the latest beta, and install it... I've had enough with xp being so gay... I mean... I install new ATI drivers, and it corrupts my monitor drivers... WTF? Then, it goes and disables my refresh-forcing proggie... I'll either go Win2k3, or linux at this point.
