No.  You can park the van halfway out the door and shoot them as they come but if you let them get the other side of the van, they can now shoot you through the van, so they no longer bother coming round the van to get you, they just shoot through the side of the van, same before you get the van too.  I couldn't figure out how they were hitting me at first, then I tested the van after I'd killed the 3 waves and you can fire through it.  Probably still too heavy for CargoBob though, despite the new thin skin.🙄  At least I got $135k for the BS experience though.

I cannot believe what I just read. What the f*ck is that horse sh*t?

EDIT: I just did the Humane Labs security contract right now, and I can confirm that they still stop chasing you once you back into the building in the van. Nothing has been changed. That's good.

It's nice to be back online, wanting to have a bit of fun doing 'hangar work'... I wasn't in public session for 10 mins, and I got "mandatory call" to cheaters office to be mass murdered 🙄 - but I was already prepared with my 'solo session tool', so I was out during entering animation! ...no cheap kill from me 😁  ...then while playing in solo one, I got 3 'game invites' from unknown players (this time not called like known RS in-game admins, but with names starting with 'twitch.tv').

Not the greatest return to game, but in the end I had my fun time, I did my hour of flying around shooting rockets, collecting few hangar crates - but gadamn this cheaters & hackers, and why am I getting these invites 😄

Why wouldn't it make sense? And who says they outright scrapped it? They just decided against releasing it when that major event happened that year, it would be extremely bad taste putting it out then.

Also, you can't be sure it was close to being done in May, since they most likely started working on it when 2020 started, it was probably slated for a July release like all the gtao summer updates since 2018.

I could also see something accompanying E&E in terms of a content update and then the usual summer and winter updates.

1. Wouldn't make sense as in it would have wasted the Dev teams time and whoever they hired/flew to mocap and voice presumably new characters if they indeed were close to finishing it.

Going off that someone on here said according to the steamdb qabeta stuff, the Cayo heist was largely done around August, obviously we don't know how long it was in development for but it was done awhile before it's release, as I'm sure most DLC's are for the purpose of testing bugs and whatnot, and to give the team more time to develop the next DLC. That's why I think it was close to release, not finished but close enough to a final product.

2. Tez and some others keep referring to it being 'canned', implying it got scrapped/trashed never to be seen again, which is of course different then if they said it got shelved

One thing I've been wondering is how long was CnC in development for anyway? If they were working on it since late 2019 like a tweet by Tez implies, then that means by late May it was close to being finished so therefore it wouldn't make sense to scrap all that work.

If they didn't then I could see this year being the first in a awhile to have 3 major DLCs assuming they have one ready for E&E release.

thiis year might just be the one where we get a police DLC, and not just a random "dooo doo fart" update.

You think they started working on Cayo four months before it came out lmao? R* developers said themselves in interviews they started working on it nearly a year before it came out, aka January 2020. How in the world do you think an update the scale of cayo could be worked on for only four months?

Like i said, they most likely just decided not to put out CnC that summer for obvious reasons, no amount of effort on Rockstar's part for that update would take precedence over a major real life situation that painted the law in an extremely bad light just because of the actions of one lawman.

Tez and others can say many things, none of us know what really happens at Rockstar's studios. People said the single player expansions for gta v were canned too, yet R* reworked them into gta online updates. I'm sure they'll find a way to make use of all that time and effort spent in developing CnC.

No that's not what I meant at all lol, what I mean is they apparently finish these updates way before they actually come out and then sit on them until they decide it's a good time to release like December to maximize sales and whatnot, and of course give time to iron out the bugs and stuff.

They work on updates until the last moment, hence why their release dates are decided way in advance. R* doesn't just finish them and then sit on their asses twiddling their thumbs.

Well the best approach is to stick a MkII just left of where you exit pointing at where they come from like at LSIA and then hop out and get on it and missiles away.

I did the Pacific Heist Finale today with some randoms, got on the Lectro and rode out only to find 4 Opressor MkIIs waiting there.  I thought, that seems like a strange update, but heh if you can fire through vans now I guess it's not that strange.

Yes. Which is is why they then go on to develop their next DLCs while the marketing team and QA is still dealing with the previous one that has yet to release.

As was apparently the case for cayo perico...

Where are you getting all this information from lol? Just making assumptions out of thin air isn't doing you any favors

They work as a collective on each update and then move on to the next, hence why each year's updates usually start being worked on a few weeks after the holiday update for the previous year has landed.

Not assumptions, just going of my memory from what I learn on here (like the fact cayo was done largely by August) from the guys that know what they are talking about, the rest of what I'M going on about I would think would be common sense, like for example releasing a DLC in December vs something like September lmao.

No one here said cayo was done by august 2020. Just because there was activity happening on steamdb and qabeta doesn't mean it was in its final stages.

It's pretty much common knowledge at this point that R* works on updates until at least two weeks before they release since they have to send it to Microsoft and Sony to pass the certification process.

You saying stuff like part of the team moves on to future updates while the others stay to finish up the remaining parts is backed up by literally no evidence, just an assumption or whatever you'd like to call it from your part lmao. Even if that were the case, we have nothing concrete or close to it that points towards that being the case.

Yes someone did say that believe it or not lol, I mean they could be wrong or I misinterpreted what they said exactly. I'd love to find that quote but I don't even know who wrote it anymore.

Anyways we do need someone to come out and say for how long CnC actually was in development, I think that should tell us if it's eventually going to be released or not, going back to what I said originally.

Pretty sure it was close to being done if it was gonna come out in July that year.

R* don't usually scrap updates due to real life events so that was definitely a first. And according to dataminers, CnC was pretty much in its final stages as they found certain leftover code from it in the summer 2020 update that replaced it.

Rockstar often plans out and works on two updates at the same time. A mid-sized update and the big one. Work on CnC started early 2020 and Cayo Perico was being planned out and worked on at the same time.

We can conclude from a previous post, the Diamond Casino update was in development when After Hours released. Plus, the Contract DLC was in development before the Tuners update. In fact, Rockstar themselves confirmed they weren't sure of when to release the Contract DLC.

Quote

“We weren’t even sure when this update was going to land, whether it would be in the summer, now, or later. There were a lot of moving parts we needed to nail down. So once we knew we were going to be working with him, and we were going to feature the music, the next thing we needed to do was figure out how to integrate him into the world.  - Rob Nelson

From what we found within the files, there's definitely more planned for the Agency. A new VIP Contract. Plus, I find it interesting that Rockstar decided to bring back Franklin at the time E&E was originally planned to come out before or alongside the Contract update release. Almost like Rockstar was planning this out to work with Shawn Fonteno on both GTAO and story mode content. A fitting schedule to include some new content into story mode with E&E.

The new VIP i would bet on Rosalia. But are you saying that SP players will get their so desired SP DLC? If so, E&E will have all ingredients to set a new record for R* in terms of the numbers of players that flock each time a dlc comes out. :kekw:

Not that it wouldn't be the case even if without SP content, but, it's a big plus if it comes to fruition.

I wouldn't expect much, remember they brought all three of them back for the current version and that was mostly just so Trevor, Michael and Franklin could say "I'm a dog! Bork bork!" "I'm a bird, I'm high lol"

Yeah, isn't Motomami being released in the same week - 18th March?

I think the contract DLC should update more VIP contracts besides Dr. Dre, such as various Hollywood movie stars in the game (not in reality), rich businessmen, foreign rich people kidnapped by robbers, football stars, basketball stars Wait, a firm shouldn't just work for Dr. Dre

I hope the game will update the quest (contact errand) maker, similar to the creative workshop, even if the game is not updated, players can create their own quest (contact errand) and publish it to the website for players to download and play.

Fifty of either one of the first three items would give you another x1.7 multiplier. So you'd end up at $102k per crate. Average mission time should be around 8 minutes, so that's actually decent payment. Of course nothing beats Cayo right now.

It's a shame you can't do the sourcing in invite only.  Having to do the sourcing as well as the selling in a public session just destroys it.

Hell no with Rosalía (as a possible npc featured in a dlc), we already have a crappy radio station dedicated to her, we need Michael or a Fresh new character like Pavel, Rockstar did a great job with him

If we could unnistall these new radio stations, we probably save a lot gb's. 😅

Another Friday maybe we will receive another newswire with better info? I think not.

That's what makes her the most likely candidate as the next vip. Her real Motomami album also drops the same week of E&E I believe.

Besides, doesn't mean we can't get more faces from single player even if she does turn out to be the next A list client. Pretty sure Michael's film stuff would feel sort of in line with that as well, R* could make it more so.
