I would also want modern comet, but because they already added comet sr i doubt they gonna add another similar one. Although same can be said for classic comet, if they count retro custom as one and they don't see a need for regular model. I think there is a a bigger chance for car based on porshe 928, which is also great.

Gonna be honest here, I really expected something, anything, to be announced/teased/mentioned by Rockstar Games by now regarding the next update or other upcoming projects.

 

I know that random update for PC loading times was, well, unusual. Seems they would have just included that with the next title update if it were close to releasing. I guess we have a good wait until any content drops.

I'm gonna give it until April 2nd before I fully de-hype from any potential new GTA content in the near future. After just over 3 months and we haven't even got the full dripfeed of the update after how many weeks since the Brioso 300 waiting on the Panther Statue? After all, Heists was supposed to come out 2 weeks after Online's launch, it took until November 2014 before we saw what we were going to get, and they finally came out after 18 months. There comes a time when you gotta call it quits and leave them to it.

Given what that update did to the Xbox version of the game on top of how popular t0st's post on the matter was getting, if someone in the know was to tell me; they quickly put a build together, tested the load times on each platform once and then just put it in, I wouldn't be surprised... in all honesty, let's consider it a good thing they did, realised then and undid the damage in the middle of a content drought, rather than put it in WITH a new content update. The f'ing headaches and media firestorm that would've caused.

I think we're still going to get something for current gen GTAO (minor) before E&E or whatever is coming next drops, just not in the expected timings. I wouldn't give up hope just because there's not a March announcement.

Given the continued WFH, things have kind of played out for "minor" in my mind to mean Ill-Gotten Gains Part 3, which is ridiculously fitting when you think about it.

 

First-Gen: Heists Update releases, is followed up by IGG Part 1 & 2 which are the final updates for that version.

Current-Gen: Cayo Perico Heist releases, is followed up by IGG Part 3 (& 4?) which is (are) the final update(s) for that version.

Ngl...that porsche looks like porsche and delorean had a son...i didn't like that car. Also, i hope that they will release the rx7 (zr-350) someday and that they don't think that: "what? rx7? you have the banshee don't you? It's enough." (i know that it's basically a dodge viper, but since they even gave the banshee 900R the F&F livery of the rx7, i always kept some skepticism about the zr-350. And also, not to mention the zr-380 which i didn't think they would tease that car for so long with just an arena war variant and still not giving us the regular version.

Yeah, the more I think about it, that particular old style would be nice to have. It's just an image problem for me with that car, they are seemingly mostly driven by newly divorced 50 something dentists. Can't remember the last time I saw a Porsche being driven by anyone without grey hair.

Bold of you to assume some online characters or even some of us in the real life are not in theirs 50s with grey hair ;). We all gonna get old eventually. But for me at least comet classic is more throwback to the vice city and some action movies/tv shows from the 80s. Also it's more fitting for online characters to drive some of those classics than laughable cars like brioso, beetle youga 4x4 custom and we still got those cars in previous updates anyway.

Why? It seems like there’s a pretty clear trend of GTAO getting fewer and smaller updates each year. 2020 showed us we’d be getting even less content during a pandemic so I can’t imagine they’re working on anything other than E&E.

They have objectively been making fewer updates as time goes on. This is just a fact. Nobody said they were expecting R* to pull an update out of their ass except the mods. That’s why I asked.

This is in response to Fun speculating "more music-centered content".

 

I worry that celebrity cameos for the sake of corpo brand deal endorsement of whatever upcoming thing they've got going will completely overshadow the final years of GTA V Online updates. After Hours made sense, Cayo Perico Heist made sense due to a new nightclub, what Cayo Perico is used for other than the world largest coke & weed manufacturing facility and how we undertook the Heist first time around with a bit of guidance from English Dave. But how many future updates are gonna wind up having our character play an almost secondary role outside of the gameplay to let the spotlight shine on whichever EDM artist the brass or suits liked the sound of on their latest jolly boys outing abroad? (granted, under current circumstances, that'll be very difficult to do). That's not to knock the artists that have actually cameo'd as themselves, the only direct critique I have is something I've before; they're DJ's not a f*cking pilot actors. The only 2 I feel were able to inject themselves fully into the madness of GTA were Solomun and Black Madonna, when it comes to everyone else I can sum it up like this... notice how Keinemusik behave like actual human beings reading lines they've been told to read when they meet El Rubio compared to everyone else in that scene, even Dave's ladies (I don't count Dre, Iovine and Pooh, because they literally just arrive and pause the whole scene they're in to do their own isolated bit)

 

Now here's the fun part, talking about subjective tastes in music in this thread of all places.

I'll admit, I have never been one for listening to the radio in GTA games, except the talkshow ones to give them a listen, but 99.9999% of the time I just have the radio off. I like to think I have a wide taste in music, but EDM & Rap are not genre's I've ever been able to get into. So I find it almost comical that everytime a new radio stations's been added to GTA Online in recent years, it's either been for the DJ cameo's or rap (with its own focus on UK grime subgenre I've noticed). Now, people could call me a hypocrite for wanting a rock radio station/focused update when I admit I don't even listen to the music radio's, but when there's such emphasis in the marketing on the content updates being a product of brand deals which add to only the same 2 genres in the hopes of introducing new music to players, why not branch out and diversify the catalogue and cater to players who have different tastes? I've spent many hours in The Music Locker and the Cayo Perico Beach Party to grind out the dance to x's music awards and in all that time, not once did I see another player come in to either location. It almost comes off as a complete waste of dev time & assets.

 

But if you ask me to make a music focused update? I can describe a repeat of the DC&R formula that comes with very ridiculous unique new assets that would need a bit of work to create, but could have a more interesting impact than banking on brand deals.

- 6 Unique Cutscene Contact Missions, focusing on a Love Fist comeback gig, with our character filling the role Tommy did in Vice City, drug runner, security, etc. Essentially a massive repeat of the Love Fist side-missions from VC but utilizing the GTA Online sandbox for even more memorable & unique missions.

 

- Purchasable & customizable (Shark Cards, right there) instruments for our character to use at anytime in freeroam (Electric Guitar, Keytar, Drum Kit). This would be the new asset that would require some serious work to create. A player can pull these out via the interaction menu, either within an interior or in the main world. These literally allow you to play music from said instrument in-game. The guitar and drum kit I can easily imagine what the control schemes would be.

 

Guitar: I may not have been interested in this franchise, but can't argue with this mechanic.

 

Drums: Bass, Snare, 2 Toms, Floor Tom, High Hat, Crash, Ride - 8 things to hit, assign one button to each part.

 

Keytar: this is a troublesome one for controllers. There's 12 notes to an octave, 4 face buttons, 4 direction buttons and 4 shoulder buttons/triggers. Those each could be assigned a note and have players switch octaves via clicking the thumbsticks. Unless they drop the black keys so each octave is cut down to 8 notes.

 

- Your customized guitar can also be used as a two handed melee weapon and a drumstick as a stabbing weapon.

 

Now imagine the amount interest that could generate; an 8+ year old crime game suddenly letting players become musicians, how big a meme could that become. Look what happened with the Alien War. How many new low ranking players did you start seeing around that time (& still do to this day) who all had a 200k bodysuit on? A couple of good legit covers and a few viral meme song covers, the kids will be clamouring to get in on it, and then find themselves going down the rabbit hole of Heists and Businesses.

 

 

EDIT: Also bagpipes because this and it would entirely make sense because Love Fist.
