I like that idea about the car club races, sorta reminds me of Need for Speed Carbon where in a lot of races you'd have a crewmate racing alongside you that would help you in some way (find shortcuts, spin out other cars, give you a speed boost by slip streaming them) and you would both race for your crew.

 

Would be cool to see a similar thing in GTA, a group of people racing another group of people and the team with the most racers in the higher finishing positions when the race ends gets more points.

I hope the clubs are public and not owned by players, because if every player can buy a club no one will join anything and it will be always empty like nightclubs.

Maybe there is a few clubs scattered around LS and players can chose to join one, what do you think?

Car Club: 
-Make teams, participate in monthly races and tournaments.
-Season and ranking system.
-Rewards: trophies, money, exclusive items.
-New tab in social club to create custom paint and design for your car team. (sponsors, colors etc..)

 

The only drawback of my idea, cheaters.

Thanks, but i still dont really see how people go from "hey guys new underground garage + new and exciting ways to get underpaid for ceo vehicle import/export" too "omg we are finally getting all our race wishes granted!!" but maybe thats just me.

Calling it "more or less dead" is just crazy, at the time of writing this post there were almost 100.000 players in the game just on the steam version, not including the rockstar launcher version, epic game store version or console versions, if we threw all those numbers together there would easily be half a million people playing it right now, if not more, and i would bet that during the weekend (when combining all platforms/launchers) there would easily be over a million people playing the game during peak time. "more or less dead" games are happy if they reach a 1000 unique players over the course of the entire weekend.

Yes, all of that. I have a lot of negative feelings about the game and the direction it has taken for years now, but I am not myopic enough to assume that how I feel is how everyone else feels. GTA:O sustains multiple full-time YouTubers and continues to do stunningly well (both sales and player population) for an 8 year old game. People are still doing things with it that the free roam warriors know nothing about. Dead to you =/= dead, period.

My first thought was that "car club" are car meets. Like I said earlier in thread, it would be completely pointless if to host a car meet, you'd first had to find a session with interested players -- because that's exactly what you'd do now. But if car meets were a job, you could quick-join one and this would actually make sense.

I think the car club is just an organization for underground racing.

If u want to be the VIP, U need to buy the new property. if u dun have the money, u may join the club as a normal member like casino.

Here's the last potential early tease I can speculate on that I noticed last night. Remember the cutscene in CPH at the LSIA hangar? The reason Dre, Iovine and Pooh bail is because Dre's car got stolen, which had his phone in it with his unreleased music and other irrelevant stuff like nudes and bank accounts.

 

Given that this updates gonna feature Hot Lists and GTA, what're the chances the Mystery Challenge of this update (assuming there is one) will be finding Dre's stolen car... i.e. we're hunting his phone that's in his car and he let's us keep the car as a PV?

As of right now, it seems like just a new vehicle class that the "Tuners" of the next update will fall into, implying to me that there'll be more than just sport tuner car, probably like how the Arena War vehicles are classed as Arena Contender. Maybe there'll be a mixed of sport and muscle and maybe even off-roaders with more intricate levels of performance customisation that this update might have.

I have a feeling that new vehicles will fall exactly in that category and old cars will be let behind. I hope it doesn't happen, but knowing Rockstar, they rather add new stuff, than reworking old.

I hope they'll at least add MKII variants, if they're that lazy to configure old car handling files.

So What do you guys think about the new race types? What do you expect/want?

 

Personaly I would like to see some new race types:

1) Street Races

     - Sprint races (point-to-point)

     - Circuit races (laps)

     - Time Attack (best lap)

     - Time trial (time limit)

2) Drift

     - Touge (best score)

     - Others

3) Drag Races

 

And new car categories for the new race types! 

or sub-categories for e.g. 

- Sports Drifting

- Sports Drag

The same car could be modified for different variants: A) Street; B) Drift or C) Drag, (as the Arena vehicles - same vehicle can be converted as apocaliptic, futuristic, etc...). And we would have cars from different categories to modify as A, B or C.

It would add a skill factor to the races, unless it's "Press X to drift!" for kiddies and their instant gratification.

Excellent perspective.  A few weeks ago, my friends and I played tag using the whole map, our rules.  The flexibility this game gives you to play it your way is one of its strengths imho.
