Jones83
Vice City was running like a special olympics reject until moments ago! I uninstalled it, and then installed in on another partition that was smaller and did not contain my Kazaa Shared Folder. Now VC is running like pedestrians from my grenades! Original partition size was 20gb... current is 15gb... I think the fact that it is seperate from the Kazaa Shared Folder makes the biggest difference. Let me know if this helps anyone! Jones83
The larger partition had less on it and each partition had been defragmented. n13
It's got nothing to do with KaZAA shared folder, unless you leave KazAA running, which I see as pointless, as you're just giving away your memory to other people. I never share on kazaa, because I'm on 56k.

Unless, of course, you had K++ running while playing the game, which would be extremely foolish (since it's still a resource hog with a memory leak, even if 50% of Kazaa's original Crapware was removed in it). Or unless you had another P2P application in the background, and it was accessing the directory.

Alucasan
Would a defregmentation solve my crashes? I thougt that was just for slow going games.
Xavier
Don't be so proud about your post "Newsflash exclusive" sh*t, silly solution, I HAVE the original game, it's 1.5 GB, and still locks up or reboots randomly.
Jones83
Kazaa isn't running in the background. If fact the program itself is on another partition, but the 'Shared Folder' where my files downloaded to was on the same partition as GTA VC. (Don't tell me I have to tell you guys the difference between a partition and a drive?) I am proud of my solution, cuz I got Vice to work Ya'all can kiss my butt if your don't like my solution, but it worked for me. Hopefully it will solve other people problems too. That's the point of posting this. Enjoy the reboots and lockups Xavier... I'll be playin' VC if you need me
mxlegend
Dude the point there trying to make, is that its not a solution, if it only works for you, and for everyone else it doesnt. Now IMO, i dont even install games onto my C:\Drive. I got my hard Drive partitioned into 4 parts. C:\ (Windows, All programs) d:\ (Games, Strictly Games) E:\ (Mp3s, so if i ever format, there unaffected) F:\ (sh*t i download, and is to be sent over to my Athlon XP1600, for backing up) Now IMO, the games run faster being of the seperate partition, but thats mostly because its always defragged, and because its only reading Game Data from that Drive.
