About that "impoverished / affluent" leak

About how the player can influence the state of certain areas in the city? Sounds like a great plot point, imagine the protagonist gets AIDS and is slowly dying through out years (chapters) in game, as an atonement for his sins you can donate to help out those parts of the city (whether it's VC or Colombia). If you choose to do good NPCs will revere you in the epilogue (assuming you'd play as a different character) or condemn you, the effects of the first protagonist will be felt and seen in the games world.

 

 

I'd really love an RDR2-esque feel to the story I guess.

As you said, this plot was just used in RDR2.
it would be dumb to use it again in their next game.

Lot of users also want VI to take place in '89 at the end of the era, similar to how RDR2 was. I think VI can do that in a modern way on a much broader scale, besides Rockstar takes inspiration from their own games a lot.

Trash idea for GTA VI,i want to see different plot rather than usual Rockstar formula.

I've never heard that "leak" but why does the character have to be sick and dying to influence the world around them?

 

I also don't really see the upside in influencing the city that way. Unless we're going to be like Kingpin on Daredevil. Controlling the crime in one part of town and lowering the property values so we can come in and gentrify the neighborhood. I guess I still don't really see the upside in that. Sounds more like some sort of scumlord real estate/city planning sim than an action game.

In RDR II world was changing but I don't remember our gang having a lot of influence on how this world will look like.

i dont think taking the moral high ground in a video game centered around debauchery, murder and gaining profit through violent and selfish means works well from a plot writing standpoint

It was something Rockstar or Take Two patented.

 

Anyway, we don't need AIDS to influence the world. Doesn't even have to be money related, at least all of the time. Choosing to deal certain drugs in certain neighborhoods could affect it as well. But real estate development would be kinda neat, too.

Playing GTA to atone for your sins by donating all of your ill gotten gains is like playing a Need For Speed game in order to drive the speed limit. Or playing a doom game to not kill demons. Also, the AIDS plot seems a bit to serious for a GTA game. Even GTA IV had a ton of wacky parody characters, if you recall. Like Brucie and Yusuf Amir. And all the talk radio show hosts.

Like others have said it sounds too much of a retread of RDR2.

 

Even if RDR2 didn't exist, it still sounds more like an RDR style story with the protagonist seeking redemption before meeting their maker. Most of the time GTA protagonist end up being the same scumbags they were at the start of the game with some ending up even worse.

 

Having a side character slowly deteriorate from aids does sounds like an interesting idea though. I get the feeling this game will explore the darker, uglier sides of that era as opposed to romanticising it like Vice City did.
