Tut98
The game engine is not designed for highly dense meshes, best to stick to the lowest poly example (or preferably even lower). The higher you go, the less stable your game will be. You don't have to go high before you will notice instability. This can be improved by using modifications that increase your cpu utilization and other things. I believe Fastman has some mods for this. Google 3ds max optimization or search on Youtube, you will find a lot of good sources that you can learn from. Be warned though, by optimising your mesh, it's possible you will have to skin the mesh to its bones again. 3ds Max and Blender are both good applications for 3D modeling and modding GTA. alanjojy

Tut98
You have to be careful with subdividing meshes, but it is possible. Often, changing smoothing groups can make objects appear much more dense than they really are. alanjojy

Tut98
Changing textures is fine - though I would avoid going any higher than 512x512. Try to edit some models and get a feeling of how detailed the textures and models are. This will help you a long way Any questions are welcome! alanjojy

Colbertson
SA can only use up to 4 gigabytes of ram so if there are a lot of high res textures it could cause issues. But generally high res textures are fine, same with highpoly models. Edited March 6, 2021 by Colbertson alanjojy
