Anyone know why items stay on your horse?

Today I needed the reinforced lasso for dailies and when I eventually found the target in the mountains I only had the stock lasso (which we should be able to ditch). Reinforced lasso was back on my horse. This has never happened before.

 

I recently bought the naturalist machete because it looked good but every time I go to use it its back on the horse and I need to run back and get it.

 

How do I lock things so that they are always on my person?

Hmmm, I've never had that happen:

 

The reinforced and regular lasso are always just on me, weird...

Or I've switched to the reinforced enough times, on my horse, that it is always the one that

is for sure on me on the ground? This even seems to carry over from playsessions.

Even when I set that slot to volatile fire bottle, when on the horse, the reinforced lasso is still

a choice I have when on the ground.

 

I also have two machete on me, both are the special ones bought from Nazar (think one is the one you are talking about, Zevila or something.)

I don't have to be on horse for those either, or at least I always switch from the default knife in the hand when I start to playsession to the Zevilla

Machete, then it is always there when I'm on the ground too.

 

For me, the only things "stuck" on my horse are things like the off hand weapon (like Varmint rifle or bow, but not both on me at the same time on the ground, while Bolt Rifle is my main weapon.)

 

Even just today, it was working fine like that for me (this is on Xbox One.)

That happens to me all of the time now, but it wasn't always like that. When I first got the reinforced lasso back when Bounty Hunter came out it was automatically equipped and my regular lasso disappeared. Than they released another update and it ruined something that now causes my reinforced lasso to be replaced by the once nonexistent regular lasso.

It's frustrating as all get out.

Ah, I checked again tonight before work:

 

Yeah, the lasso I have ON me all the time (on the ground) is the Reinforced one (the other one was only seen when I was on my horse, using it as another possibility

to get credit for lassoing the same guy for a daily.) This was by default, without me having to equip it on the horse (had volatile fire bottle equipped still, after getting off horse.)

 

So I'm not sure why yours is not defaulting to the Reinforced Lasso, on the ground.

Oh that explains it! I was talking to my friend the other day and asked him if the regular lasso still shows up in his weapon wheel and he said no. Mine does. But I was on the horse and he wasn't on his.
