Fearing the worst, and hoping for the best, I went to see her outside McFarlanes Ranch .. Oh boy - she immediately bragged about her "fine nose" (don't you think I can smell the blood on your hands ..? ) Well, a couple of white tails (amongst others) has ended their lives by a bullit from my Carcano - so, if this is what she means, well allrighty then ... But I needed the sedative ammo, and the 0.2 "gould" was very tempting - so just had to close my eyes, and be prepared for the spray sequence ... But NO - she wasn't really that upset, and went straight to business .. Stand there for a minute or so and she'll calm down and let you do your business. Choose sell first. I visit her at MacFarlanes or Lagras, both by water. If she sprays you, go catch five fish and return to her. She'll be open for business and ready to help. Dirty her up a little with TNT on your way out. Was served as lunch one time for a Panther (or rather Hors d'oeuvres - although my Horse wasn't really on the menu - it was me ..) MacFarlanes is pretty safe, ending up near the water, and always be prepared with guns loaded with explosive ammo (in case she litterally throws you out in the middle of a wolf pack ..) Well - if the standard ideas the Rockstar thinktank can come up with is fake strawbeards, then the "lovely" Miss Davenport isn't a big surprise .. I rather like her (reminds me of my daughter, somehow..) But the spraying is quite annoying - couldn't they have settled with some sort of her being hard to find, or her tent closed for business .. So hard to predict which mood she's in - sometimes she is a "feisty little critter" that will spray you whatever she say - and sometimes she will talk trash, and do business anyway .. Interesting because I only use Lagras, basically because it's so close to the fast travel. I always see her first thing when I log on because I have a tendency to kill animals the longer I play. I take care of her dailies and buy sedative ammo. If she doses me, I use my temporary camp to craft things I will need for the session. BUT THE BENZ Posted March 13, 2021 Share Posted March 13, 2021 one time I visited her and I had a feeling she'd spray me....on my way to here there was an accidental roadkill, a kill in defense, and maybe 2 or 3 perfect squirrels I just HAD TO pick up (you know...) to my surprise though she'd just let me sell and buy like nothing happened. ok whatever harry! and then, a completely different "fresh" session, when I didn't even kill ANY animal for at least 45 minutes (due to the daily challenge) and I just wanted to stock up on sedative ammo - and that bitch suddenly sprayed me like I had just kicked all of momma watsons' chickens to death right before I came to see her. yeah f*ck you too harry! Yeah, she seems kind of cray! I checked in with her at the start of my session, got sprayed (as I figured), did some camp stuff plus a delivery (not killing anything) and then went back to her: "You've been VERY GOOD LATELY, I've been hearing!!!", and all friendly... I purposefully spent days (irl days of play sessions) doing Poacher Missions, Legendary Animal Missions and Animal Tagging Events and was in Harriet's good graces for awhile. Then just now, I went to do a Legendary Mission for her and she Sprayed Me!? I've been fishing allot, so I guess that pisses her off too. I thought a snake had spawned underneath it but turns out she keeps a small gator in a cage on her "porch" and when I shot it she didn't react, dealt with me a couple minutes later I'd ask what exactly sets her off but I don't question anymore why women are mad, I just wait it out. I don't think fishing does it at all, since I've been in good with her then done a bunch of that and still the same; there is a good spot in Hennington's Stead, right near her for Steelhead Trout, where she will also verbally react if you pick up a dead squirrel ("HOW COULD YOU!") but does nothing while you are fishing. My guess is you (as in your horse) may have been stepping on creatures without knowing it. Besides ruining the daily "no animal killed for 24 hours", it seems to add up and get Harriet peeved. While playing today, I actually took notice of how often my horse steps on/kills things without me usually even noticing; it is like the horse is TRYING to do it! Just moving along, from thing to thing, with these black paw prints popping up behind on the mini-map. Then I like how the horse neighs in distress, when it happens. My horse is such a hypocrite! Collecting samples gives you next to nothing anyway and I don't find it particularly fun. The whole role is not at all realistic anyway. Though I guess you might not have to visit Harriet, the naturalist role itself is a source of three challenges a day, three challenges that give gold. Just like that mask/bandanna that I bought only to complete the daily and I never wear except for that reason, it's free gold just sitting there for the taking from where I stand.
