How to Calm Down Harriet?

Nope - Get sprayed every single time .. As Cripps says: It's a perk of the trade .. 😵

The most ridiculous thing in the game. It doesn't fit at all. We have to get mauled by bears, wolves and cougars then never go hunting and buy all our meat from the butcher. Whoever thought up this nonsense should be fired.

It just gave me one thought though. It fully justifies my stealing of sales. Sorry I stole your goods but Harriet made me do it.

Would you rather have her jumping out from behind the nearest bush or rock, screaming at you : WHAT DID YOU JUST DO .. ! .. Whenever you killed an animal .. 🤣

Before I started as naturalist, I once killed a black bear at night, near her tent in Lagras - She screamed so loud (WHAT DID YOU JUST DO .. !) that I almost jumped off my chair - got so scared, because in my mind I was imagine her chasing me in the swamp with a long knife .. Jeeezz 😬

If they make her appear like that in the future, I'm quitting the naturalist .. 😆 .. So I'm okay with the spray - but never let her do it in Lagras again - She is dumping you off near a Panther spawn point .. Very rude .. I'm always let her do it at McFarlane ranch - much safer ..

I only visit her in Lagras because of her closeness to the quick travel. I try to see her only once a day and, if I have to visit her for the daily challenge, I make sure I complete that particular challenge first.

Weird though, I went to Lagras to see her, a yellow question mark showed up, I killed a legendary, dropped it off at camp and went back to Lagras to take my medicine (actually, her medicine). Since this was my first project of the day, I figured I'd just do some crafting at my temporary camp after I woke up--but she welcomed me with no problem. Now I'm not sure what sets her off.

I dont know either - But it could be about how many you kill .. She is counting, and when you reach a certain number, you are sprayed (and kind of reset, although she keeps her eyes fixed at you .. 👀)

The McFarlane is okay close to a quick travel post - only a minute away on horse ..

Emotes used to work, but now, not so much. Any Insight?

Yeah, they only worked to calm her at first.

The first patch, after naturalist, updated it so it did not (if I recall correctly.)

Now they(emoting at her)  just let you gauge if she is going to spray you or not; she makes a positive

response ("yes, I like that!") if she is NOT going to spray you, while if she is she says stuff like:

"I'm not interested" "I'm busy"/whatever.

If I see the daily is stuff that requires interacting with her, I just go over

to her right away when I first get in game. She is usually close to my camp, since I'm at Hennington's Stead

and usually near Mcfarlane's. So then I get sprayed by her right away, do some other stuff,

then sell her the samples/whatever after the 15 minute cooldown before I've done enough

to get her angry again. That is also a good time to buy max sedate ammo.

I've tried calming her down before with emotes and nothing has worked.

Honestly the only purpose of the Naturalist role to me is to quick start a legendary animal mission and hope it's something easy and worth lots of materials to throw the pelt straight onto Cripp's trading table...

I couldn't give less of a f*ck about the coats.

I do think the coats are nice - just put on a hat, so the ridiculous animal head is not shown ..

Actually I took the naturalist role in order to obtain the small camp - so I can fast travel from everywhere on the map .. 🤣

Wait.... You can kill the legendary animals in her missions???  I've only done one before just to see what it was and haven't done one since because I am not interested in collecting animal samples.   I painfully only ranked that role up just enough to get the camp.

Yeah you can, there are different missions with different weather effects. Some of them have a mini cut scene with the animal emerging out of wherever it's residing.

The Golden Bear is worth like 60 something materials to Cripps table. Usually the bigger the animal the more materials it will be worth.

I did not know that.  I'm assuming you don't get her role XP if you kill the animal?  Either way, that seems like a good way to fill the trader table.

From what I remember, no you don't get the role XP but once you're level 20 it doesn't matter I guess. 😛

Yea, I have only made it to level 5 or 6... I'm not feeling ambitious about that one

It seems pretty random to me. I've gone several game days without killing anything...got sprayed. I've gone around not hesitating killing animals and not got sprayed. 🤷‍♂️

Except for the different animal heads the coats look like they are the exact same coat.

I have a full load of stuff to be delivered that's been sitting in camp for 6 months and Cripps supplies are maxed out. Shows how much interest I have in trader anymore. They need to advance the role, and not just 10 more levels.

Mine have been sitting there full for several weeks at least.  I have really only been delivering them when my friends need help with cash

Isn't it a great game ? .. I like the coats (and yes, the coat are the same, but the fur isn't) and will try to get them all eventually - and some don't really care about the coat .. There is something for everybody ..

Even griefers like Harriet Davenport get's all excited, and spraying and yelling at us .. 😂

Every time I come across a LA I feel like bagging, I just put it in my hunting wagon for later.

Full carcasses count as perfect for dailies.

I pretty much only do sales for dailies.

Same for shine deliveries, I usually keep the same batch for weeks and only deliver if there are a lot of stupid dailies I don't want to do.

Naturalist was the absolute hardest/most tedious role to rank up, now I see Harriet maybe once in 2-3 months, and then only because some of the samples are maxed out and I need to sell a few.

Yeah. I'd keep them in the shack for the "drink your own strong moonshine" daily.

I feel that way about all the clothes, really. I don't even bother hunting the legendaries (though I did help a friend get two for himself),  I just kill them when I run into them in the wilderness. I've gone to see Gus and he shows me how many coats I can purchase if I wish (because I have turned the skins in to him) and I think I'm up to 19 now.

Ha! I never got camp raids until I started leaving those 100% deliveries sitting in my camp. Cripps and I have to save our camp on occasion now.

The only time I ever visit her is to sell samples for dailies and to restock on varmint ammo. EVERY TIME I get sprayed by her lol.. I need to remember to go see her after i go AFK when I am doing the '24 hours without killing an animal' daily

Yeah ;)

That is the best part of doing them!!!

They are a great way to get the coats you don't have, as well as doing them if there is a "sedate legendary" or "take picture of legendary" daily.

Hmmm, plus they are solo for sure. I might try just doing Legendary bounty,  Harriet legendary animal and Telegram missions one day (then revolving around

to the next so I don't worry about cooldown timers) one day - great solo play session without glitching (plus doing the other two things won't anger Harriet, since no animal killing)!

One time I logged straight into camp and I hadn't been in camp 10 seconds and there were bullets flying. I was like...huh? Then I looked around and here come all these red blips.  I was like, geez, couldn't even let me sit down in my chair before starting up. I didn't have my soda yet either. 😄

Dr.Rosenthal

Ok so I didn't realize until a few days ago that you can be sprayed by her, let her cooldown and then interact with her (this is not an erotic novel, I swear). I used to visit her only to suck up a mouthful of mace everytime, thinking I've got to become 100% non-lethal to gain her friendship.

Can't wait for the Herbalist update.
