Flymystical-DJ
Hello, Title. I'm trying to hear as much dialogue as possible in my current playthrough. I was excited to slowly fill the friendship guage over 10's of hangouts... until getting addicted to cab driving, car theft and drug deals... Now, it seems my "friends" barely call me. And now I'm missing out on cool details like how condescending Niko acts in the beginning. And how cute Roman is. So I'm here to ask the experts: what's the trick? It seems like I'm limited to one "conversation" per hangout, can I increase that? Maybe complete a hangout without doing an activity? At the very least let me in on the best times to hangout so I don't miss put on some good quips! Any help would be appreciated. Much love. At the very least, thanks for taking the time to read. Cheatz/Trickz
I fit all the dialogues in during my story play throughs as it makes zero sense contextually hearing them after the main story. You can get two dialogues per hangout with the friends, the second one plays after completing a third activity. You can also get a drunken dialogue on top of those if you drink as the fourth activity.
billiejoearmstrong8
Yeah do multiple activties per hangout and make the last one drinking. You'll hear a lot that way. If you're not aware, each friend (and girlfriend) sleeps at different times of the day/night and if you call them when they're asleep they'll be annoyed and you might not be able to hang out soon afterwards. So if you're planning on doing lots of hanging out might want to make a note of when each one is awake. Slight spoiler since it reveals who you can become friends with later in the game so click at your own risk: Spoiler Roman - awake all the time Little Jacob - awake 1:00pm-4:00am Brucie - awake 7:00am-1:00am Dwayne - awake 12:00pm-1:00am Packie - awake 4:00pm-6:00am Also try not to invite the same friend to the same activity twice in a row or keep inviting out the same friend over and over or they might say no and keep saying no for a while. It's actually required that you invite out each friend for each activity at least once to get 100%, so again might want to note it down and take it in turns inviting each one to each thing if you want to do that. The way the dialogues work is very straightforward, each friend just has a set number of them that will play in order over the times you hang out (plus the separate drunk ones where it's the same thing, you'll hear one each time you get drunk with them) and once you've heard them all that friend just won't talk any more. The exact number varies but they each have around 13 dialogues and 5 drunk dialogues. They don't change depending on the time in the story or anything like that the way they do in V, you can just listen to them all any time during or after it. So it's not difficult to hear them all. Same applies to girlfriends. And the jobs have no effect on it. Edited February 20, 2021 by billiejoearmstrong8 Flymystical-DJ

But I know what you mean about the lack of stuff to do post-story. I guess most players should complete most of the side content after finishing the game's narrative (like jobs, vigilante missions, stealing cars for Brucie, etc). That's a little disappointing but great in that I can self pace them now. I kinda wanna start over and Do a little RP with that actually.

They're written in such a way that this works though, rather than relating to the story they're more of an insight into the friends' and Niko's characters. I'd say they're best heard before finishing the story just because then you have that extra insight while playing it, but yeah it can all be done any time. Btw I also like to pace them but if you're still cab driving you're pretty early on in the story, you have plenty of time. billiejoearmstrong8
Another discussion just reminded me of something. If anyone ever wants to just hear all the hangout conversations with a friend as quickly as possible I found a way to do it: Invite a friend out, listen to a conversation and commit murder-suicide (holding a grenade out the window too long or driving into gas pumps is the easiest way). Get in a car and start driving away from the hospital (best to do this on the first island so that you can just drive up and down Dukes Boulevard between the two hospitals). Soon they'll call and ask to be picked up from the hospital (if you're on the first island it'll be one of the two that are very close together and connected by that road so it's easy). Pick them up, and you'll get another conversation. And repeat. Just keep killing yourselves and picking them up from the hospital and killing yourselves again etc and you can listen to every conversation rather quickly.
