popkev
Is there a legitimate strategy for gambler challenge 8? I spent about 34 hours trying to do it and I am only at 1/3. I really want to get 100% completion because I have never actually gotten 100% in any games.
StyxTx
It takes time. I found Rhodes to be the worst place. I normally end off shooting the dealer since every time I get 5 cards the dealer there will tie or beat me. Van Horn is where I got it done in the 4 previous playthroughs, but that doesn't mean it will be the easiest for someone else. If you ever get 2 of the same low card in the initial deal, split them into 2 hands. Hope for really low cards on your first 2. If you get an ace along the way use it as a 1. It does take time and it's the only challenge out of the last 3 that you have no type of trick to make it easier. Sometimes just take a hit even with a hand of 15 or 16 and hope. You aren't losing anything since you need to draw 5 and win. If you have plenty of money it's worth the chance. The games don't cost that much to join anyway. I've also heard if you stay in the same seat it will take longer. I did try changing seats every so often and it did seem to get me wins quicker. Personally, I think it's a crock challenge since the cards are not random. The number of times I bust when drawing on 13 (over 80% of the time) vs the number of times the dealer busts on 13 or higher (maybe 10% of the time) kinda tells me nothing is random. Montana Actual
That's not the bad one even... It just takes time and constant hitting even when you know there is no chance. Sometimes a "reset" works too. Most of mine came from within the first 3 hands. Rhodes isn't any different than any other spot tbh, and you can walk away, sleep the longest duration, save, and rejoin the table all in one spot. The one I hate is the one that follows. Win dominos 3 times in a row. The easiest one is arguably the standard dominoes "draw" type, with only one player. But 3 games in a row? FML... I hate dominos and it seems like just pure luck as with the previous challenge, the one you are on. These challenges are not challenging, they are just annoying time consuming lucky wastes of activities... but still, it's better than most games have to offer *cough* cyberpunk *cough*. Win 3 consecutive games of dominos is easy if you know what to do. If it looks like you're going to lose, leave the table briefly then return to play again. It will not reset your streak. Do it as many times as necessary. It will not save the streak if you try to save game or leave RDR2 so don't do that till you've won. Challenge 10, win 3 hands in a row is also easy. Go all in on each hand and the others will fold. It may take a few tries but it doesn't take long at all. But as I said, for the 5 card draw there is no quick method like with the last 2 challenges. I hate that challenge because of how much time is spent on it. Edited February 20, 2021 by StyxTx
popkev
I just watched youtube videos and spammed x and it eventually worked. I can't say gambler 9 is any better because I'm stuck at 2/3 for 8 hours now and all I am thinking about is how I'm going to kidnap Hyram and shoot his goddamn kneecaps then drown him. ~INDIO~
fuzzyballs01
ye, just bet 2 cents a hand and hope you get lucky
JB1982
Tip I found useful was to sit at the end of the table where the dealing starts so you are the first hand dealt. Then if you bust out you can leave the table and rejoin, reseting the play. It won't help you win but it saves a bit of time rather than sitting waiting for the fellow players at the table to go through their hands. But with regards to winning, it really is down to the luck of the draw. It takes patience and perseverance to get through this one. Bet low, split if you ever get two of the same card, remember that aces can count as low and high. And remember that it doesn't all have to be done at once. Take a break, go and do something else, then come back to it.
~INDIO~
I was really lucky, think I had it done in about 15 minutes.. but yeah just keep leaving the table and rejoining so you don't have to wait your turn. Van Horn is where I went
Old Man With No Name
I did this while watching movie. I took my 1 or 2 hour real life time. Just placed 2 cent for every bet and pressed x until my cards busted
reeversky
These Gambler Challenges are kinda funny. They were the hardest to complete on my first playthrough. Eventually, I got frustrated and gave up at the eighth one because I simply couldn't do it. On my second playthrough, I did them all straight away without any issues or guides. Like others said, most of these challenges seem to be based mainly on random luck. Just like gambling in real life, so make sure you got a lot of money to waste. lol

Just keep drawing unless it's obvious you can't draw 5 without busting.

Well dayum... but still, I spent about 2 hours before the first win and I hate dominos because I suck at it. I have never completed all the challenges, but I'd like to. Just annoys me Arthur is not the one who can complete them. Marston does not fit the "LOTE" bill...
