The PC release wasn't the mistake. The mistake is one of two things.

 

They didn't do anything to prevent modders or they didn't give users the choice of solo/invite only lobbies. If they did either, especially lobby choice, everything would be fixed.

 

Let's see what they do now, if their claim that PC attracted more players than console lately is true, about fixing the PC issue.

I dont play consoles, so R* releasing RDO for pc is a blessing for us that only play on PC, not a mistake at all.

Well - I don't have a X-box or PS (have a Wii) so I can't really say that I do agree with the statement about the PC launch .. If it wasn't available for PC, then I wouldn't play RDR2/RDO .. And just because it is possible to cheat, grief (or both) actually isn't a thing anybody is obligated to do - so people can just stop doing it .. It is really that simple ..

 

In my nearly 54 years here on this "third rock after the sun" - I've never (like, never ever) met somebody who said or felt, they were jerks - never ... Althoug from my point of view, some of them were .. So it's a kind of subjective feeling (it seems) .. They always has some kind of "justification" as why they do the things they do - nearly always anybody else was to blame .. Well, in my opinion, it is actually a choice we make as humans - do we act as a bully in school, do we steal, do we rob old ladies, troll the internet ... And on the list goes .. It IS an active choice we make, every single time we do things that harm, or annoys other living things ..

 

It seems like it's legit to do those things (especially on the intetnet) just because you can .. NO, it will never be legit to harm anybody, or bring misery in to their lives - whatever reason people may have ..

 

Now this is getting WAY to deep - it's just a game .. And we all have a choice to leave the game, if we can't stand the smell .. But I don't believe for a moment, it was the intentions, when Rockstar made the game - it was for having fun with each other - but like so many other things in life, there has to be mutual consent, if we are doing things that could potentially harm or making other people having discomfort ..

 

This is how I feel, and this is how I live my life .. Both IRL, and in cyberspace ..

There is probably one way to go with PC modders as in GTAO, but i doubt R* will do a banvawe on PC...

Oh yeah, I am not a fan of all the changes to player blips.  They should have just made solo lobbies and limited the absolute hell out of them.  It should cost gold to enter them and gold payouts would be reduced or not be available.  Monetize those players.  

 

I always have been of the opinion that lobby types were not implemented to avoid money and gold glitches.  As many glitches from GTAO involve joining a player in another aim type or invite only somewhere in the steps.

It isn't very nice to put a name on the griefers you meet in the game - but for once I'm going to do just that, because you all gonna meet him every time you play ..

 

His name is "JB Cripps" ...

 

And he is just a bastard - moving my camp five times the first hour I played ... Got all confused when hunting, because when I tried to go back to my camp, the old drunk had moved it somewhere else ...

That happens whenever you're forced to change/merge servers. Thank R* for that.

This is actually an interesting perspective - and make good sense .. Many tries to get in to solo lobbies (one way or the other) forcing the rest of us together on the remaining confined spaces left on the servers ..

Gee, I can't imagine why people (on PC) want solo servers. Everyone loves modders and they are grateful R* does nothing to prevent it. I hear that console players are extremely envious and upset that they aren't allowed to have modders on their servers and many are writing a letter of protest to R* about it.

Not everyone agrees with the OP...many people gave examples why this an overblown position.  Regarding PC, that was a buyer beware situation with the online portion.  No one who waited a year plus and saw the online setup was simply the same as GTAO, can have any sympathy for their bad call.

 

  No one should feel bad for anyone who got the PC version.  They got exactly what they paid for.  An awesome story mode that can run the game in superior form.  They can mod story mode...I think, R* does not shut down mods because if they do the outrage will be swift and hard because it shutdowns story mods as well.  If you bought the PC game for online, well I do not understand that way of thinking but see point 1, no one thinks its ok R* does not punish the players using mods.  They need to invest in a better network system, allegedly, that will solve many issues.

Easy mode? I wasn't aware that the online game had a difficulty level?

 

R* has stated rather plainly that they are against splitting the player base apart in favor of different server types, obviously they don't like the idea. This is the truth that many are basing their opinions on, and they are coming to a forum to speak their mind about it with like minded individuals.

 

Now let's be honest, the big wigs at R* could be standing right in front of us and they still aren't going to listen anyways.

Heck, R* seems to want to make RDRO into something like Michael Bay would create if the dude wrote Tombstone.

 

Red Dead Redemption was a series of games built on a story, it's hard to translate that over to a pvp style game.
