This could have been the greatest thing ever in GTA modding. But unfortunately got stomped to death by T2 and Rockstar. This is honestly so depressing, I can't actually believe this.

if i can remember well one of the houser bros said that ocarina of time was one of their influences to make a 3D gta, its f*cking funny how we are getting a fully working zelda pc port before a gta one, esp knowing how nintendo treats their fans.

edit: Multiple members of the video game industry have expressed how the game impacted them and the industry. Rockstar Games vice president of creativity Dan Houser stated in 2012, "Anyone who makes 3-D games who says they've not borrowed something from Mario or Zelda [on the Nintendo 64] is lying."[155] Rockstar founder and Grand Theft Auto director Sam Houser also cited the game's influence, describing Grand Theft Auto III as "Zelda meets Goodfellas".

wish they both had the balls to come out from their imposed silence and speak against rockstar sh*tty actions towards fans.

Take-Two Interactive are basketball heads for DMCA'ing reLCS and reVCS since that was the only way to play Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories on PC without using emulators, and they have no plans to release an official version of those two on PC.

I have the contents of the repos as of the filing in September all backed up...unfortunately I'm not Russian and live somewhere where I'm very very suable, so if I wanted to fork it and continue development it's not really safe for me to do so.

Anyone know if there has been any further development in the case?

I seriously hope the re3 guys win the case, it would be awesome seeing the trilogy getting ported to consoles like the Dreamcast and Gamecube.

The Linux port of this runs so well, such a shame they got taken down for that "Definitive" edition crap (which doesn't even have native linux versions).

Is it still ongoing? Then there is hope!

Take-Two will fight the case against the creators of GTA reversed engineered mods re3 and reVC in a trial. Court has set the date to 28 July of 2023.

I've been keeping a close eye on the GTA reversed engineered lawsuit and it doesn't look like the lawsuit is ending anytime soon, unfortunately.

A court trial date has been set for 28 July, 2023 with a bunch of other meetings alongside it, now pending for approval from the Judge pic.twitter.com/anj2Bl4rz9

The lawsuit will be a drag. Take-Two will provide proof to the court in 2022 that should show the damage dealt by the mods. This year the experts will take a close look at the proof. And only in 2023 the trial will start.

If the court will find the creators of re3 and reVC creators guilty, they could be facing a fine in several hundred of dollars.

It could be GTA IX coming out and I still wouldn't be as interested and as genuinely happy as seeing GTA 3DU games source codes in the hands of our modding community. Those are the only GTA games I'm still looking forward to see. There's one thing I would like to see even more; them being freed of all this legal nonsense, with or without us having the source codes. f*ck T2.

Wanna give a massive shout to the team at Re3, basically the Steam Deck doesn’t even play Vice City from the Steam storefront since the executable is so old and Proton on Linux has a difficult time rendering the menus.

I installed Re3 and it works right out of the box. It’s the perfect experience to play the definitive edition of Vice City on the go!

Does being fully reverse engineered benefit multiplayer implementations? Been wondering if anyone has worked on that. If I was smart enough I would. I imagine it would work really well but I have no clue.

Has anyone done 100% GTA3 re3?
I am trying to create a starter save, but everytime complete the paramedic sidemission (right after starting a new game) and save, I get a corrupted save file with the following error message:

RES Assertion Failed!
Assertion failed!
File: D:\a\re3\re3\src\control\Garages.cpp Line: 1761
Function: CGarage::FindDoorsEntities Expression: xstart <= xend
(Press Retry to debug the application)

Is there any way to fix this?

Random question, but if I use re3 and reVC (not that I have them this is hypothetical Take-Two 👀) will they work with Silent Patch?

Edit: I found the official description which clarifies that SilentPatch fixes are a part of the mod

The more I play reVC the more buggy it gets. Is this normal? I played through 3 and it was flawless.
