Finally got around to trying the latest builds of re3 and reVC (I made sure to grab them as soon as I learned of the lawsuit, wasn't going to have a repeat of last time, but never actually tried them)...and I have to say...what's happened to this is a f*cking tragedy. The major issues that existed back when the first takedown happened (especially in reVC) have been fixed...it had just enough time to start to hit its stride again before getting shot down...again. It's in a really good place, and it will absolutely be my go to for GTA3 and VC going forward, but I can't help but feel like it was destined for more.

Take-Two...sincerely...f*ck you...

It's missing librw inside the vendor folder. If you used git, then probably you forgot the --recursive flag.

If you downloaded the ZIP, then you have to download each dependency manually.

I recommend you to download and install git and use the clone command.

Edit: oh repo is down, so T2 made your life harder

Thank you!

Man I can't believe this project died for that.

Died for nothing, literally. Same problems, same bugs, same missing stuff only in unreal. Disappointing.

"Dead"...but not buried. Nintendo couldn't kill AM2R, take2 won't kill re3. Just wait, even if the original team has to move on, someone will take it under their wing.

This is code found in the DE and it matches code made by the re3/vc team.

Oh man. If there turns out to be more similar coding there is going to be such a massive sh*t storm.

Are we completely sure about this? OpenAL is an audio library.

Can you show the code snippets that match RE3?

first, you be 200% sure that this is indeed the case

once that is confirmed, unleash hell on these f*ckers and on any other coward that defends them

Okay, kind of expected, it seemed too vague. False alarm. Fact check before perhaps?

"samp-oal_GTA3.cpp" doesn't even exist in the re3 source, neither as a file, nor as a string inside a file...so yeah...I'm gonna call that one definitively BUSTED.

i just hope that this part doesn't destroy the case.

I think an argument can be made that they are not source code files. Not only that but you could argue from precident; Take Two has had, and in many cases continues to have, no issue with people distributing those particular gamefiles for the purposes of modification, and therefore it would be unjust to shutdown only *this* project and sue on the basis of those files being there.

Isn't it just a text file?

Are reVC and re3 moddable?

Yup, although modloader doesn't work and (afaik) there's no built in equivalent functionality so you have to install mods the old fashioned way. It's not that big a deal though and IMO worth it for the improvements re3 brings.

And how does the old fashioned way works?

Replacing files and editing gta3.img directly using something like IMG Factory.

You dont need to, as you can use custom .img aswell like from hd vehicles pack

In my experience the xbox map and its textures works fine loading from a custom .img, but vehicle / ped textures don't for whatever reason. They have to be in gta3.img, else it just uses the default textures, which obviously isn't going to work.

The link to the discord server has expired, can we get a new one?

The link didn't expire, it was closed because they kept getting raided IIRC. I doubt there's much to see in there to be honest, what with the whole project being on indefinite hiatus thing and all.

Oh, that's sad. But where do I go to if I want to get updates on the law suit?

Since the team themselves likely aren't at liberty to talk about it (because lawsuits are like that)...here I guess? It's gonna be a slow drawn out process though.
