Tab_Esq
Hi, I'm trying to figure out how to play with a friend. I've watched numerous YouTube videos. However, in some of those videos they have an invite to session tab in the menu; which, I do not. Myself and my friend have joined the social club and added each other as friends. We've never been in the same "session" together so we can't find each other in recent player etc. There is no search for friend function. I don't know if this matters or not, I'm on PS4 and friend (wife actually) is on the PS5, we are using the same IP because we are in the same house. So, when new to the game and two friends want to find one another, how the heck do you add them?
AmyStone
Left on D-pad to bring up the menu. Press X on players. Press R1. Press X on the player you wish to invite. Select 'invite to session'. Alternatively you can select 'join session' and that will load you on your friend. Once you have added your friend to your posse, when their posse is running you can select their posse from the menu to rejoin it. I've tried the D pad where you can see players and add them. The problem is, my wife and I do not show up on each other's player list, and since we've never been in the same "session" we can't add from recent players either. You would think Rockstar would make this a simple process. I'm a lawyer and I've been playing video games for 20 years online... and it doesn't appear evident to me. I mean when groups of friends first bought this game and wanted to play together, how the heck did they find one another to be able to add the friend?? netnow66

Also, have you added each other through the PS network (playstation.com)? I don't know if PS recognizes R*'s social club for friends. If you and your wife are one anothers Friend list (and you can add one another from the Friends Playstation menu outside of the game), when you play RDO, their name should show up. As AmyStone said, "Left on D-pad to bring up the menu. Press X on players. Press R1. Press X on the player you wish to invite. " When you first go into it as she mentioned, the heading will be "Nearby." Pressing R1 again, the heading should change to "Friends." If you guys added one another from the Playstation Friends menu (before you even boot up RDO), the name should be there. You may have to go into your Profile and then set Online status to online which is also done in the Playstation menus before you boot into RDO. 46 minutes ago, StyxTx said: PS4 and PS5 use different servers? Not sure what you mean by this but it was mentioned to me before--but I don't think it's true. I'm on PS5 and invite friends still on PS4, even to the poker tables and special lobbies. The PS5 does have some issues (PSN communities aren't available--well, I can't find them any way) but I don't believe that's one of them. I told one person that I invited I couldn't "see" them to invite them and they suggested it was because I was on PS5 and they were on PS4. But I was already in the lobby with someone I had invited on PS4. It turned out they were set to "Offline" and once they changed that, their name appeared to me and I was able to invite them. Thank you very much. We weren't friends via the main PS friends list. netnow66

You can't just bring up the player menu. That only shows the people in your session. PRESS R1
Krommer
Unrelated kind of, but someone I've never played with/don't know keeps inviting me to their session. They are the only person who does this, to the point where I now recognize the name. Isn't that weird? This is on the XBOX, where I never get a message outside of the game (from their gamer tag) saying why they are doing this. I'm almost tempted to accept, just to figure out why. How are they even seeing me online? Is there a way to just randomly invite people to your session? Why are they selecting me? I never remember names, but could it be someone who PVP'd me/griefed sometime and for some weird reason is trying to do it again; could you imagine someone bothering to keep a list of other player's names to do this?
