Zello
It's crazy how this game is seeing the light of day again. I remember reading about this game in middle school years ago and then it got cancelled because it was set in Iraq while the Iraq war was still going on and was a bit too close to home for some people and the main reason for the controversy. No game should ever be cancelled over stuff like that imo. Thank god the media stopped caring about games like they used to. RedDagger
As cool as it is to hear about this again, I can't help but feel a length of time like this can only lead to a Duke Nukem Forever situation
Spider-Vice
There's already some "smart minds", some very known and painting an asshole image on themselves, on Twitter attacking game journos for covering this game, thinking they're being paid by the US Army to talk about it. No one can do their jobs nowadays lmao. I know the US Army's "gaming" division thingy is mostly marketing for recruitment but some sh*t is just conspiracy territory. Let's see what comes out of this, thought it was vapourware by now... VCPR 1 let your hopes and dreams turn into burning fire! Mister Pink
I would love to see some opening intro in this of showing the events of 9/11. I used to love that about Medal of Honor. You'd have these really nice vignettes detailing historically the mission you are about to embark on. I think some time to show the events of what triggered the U.S. occupation of Iraq would be a nice touch. Also, I think time enough has passed to actually address 9/11. The developers can remain apolitical and perhaps use real news footage and maybe civilian footage of the attacks. I find many war games don't give enough prequel to the events of the game so we can be immersed in the why and the how we ended up there. Usually it's just glossed over. Would also be nice to see some background story of Iraqis living under the regime of the Taliban and Al Queda. Again, keeping it apolitical as much as possible. Yeah, question religiosity, extremism, ask questions about military intervention and foreign policy, human death toll etc, but don't preach to us. Shows us and let us make up our minds. Just show us life there, good, bad and ugly. Or even better, let us play as Al Queda in a mission or two. Let us experience in the first-person the anticipation of U.S. Marines coming in and trying to neutralise your the battlegrounds you are trying to protect and hold on to. I wonder is it still their aim to show you what it's like to be a U.S. Marine in Fallujah. If, so it's probably just going to be another story told from a very American perspective. No problem with that but what's new there? I'm waiting for game that can to something different like Full Metal Jacket or Apocalypse Now. I really hope it doesn't turn in to a sappy, sentimental and even corny and patriotic story like We Were Soldiers or something. We didn't win the war but we won the war in our hearts bullsh*t. First it was because of it being set in Iraq because way back in 2009 while we did have a lot of military games at the time we didn't have any depicting a recent real ongoing conflict all of the military games around that time either had fake wars or were about WWII and some people who had family members who died in Iraq also didn't like it. Now that it's getting released again it seems to be controversial because again Iraq and people accusing the devs or the company behind them of using the game as a recruitment tool for the US military. Zello
This is cool. Procedural generation. AndyGanteks
Jason
I am skeptical of how good the procedurally generation levels are considering the studio's size, but I am surprised no one bigger has tapped into that idea. Saying that, procedural generation for stuff like that is criminally underused these days, it's gone from being a staple in loot games to being a tiny DLC mode from what I've seen. Rainbow Six should really be looking at that sort of tech to reinvent it's co-op side of things, if Ubisoft had any sense anyway.
