Why did my heist complete...?

Did they change something or am I just the victim of another unfortunate GTA bug? My friends and I are trying to run all the elite challenges on PS4. First up from the OG heist list is Series A, because I figured it's the easiest or at least the most straightforward. We set it up and did a couple quick test runs last week; by test run I mean that we did most of the finale and then I would quit out before we finished. Last night we wanted to do one more test run to tweak our strategy, then the real deal at last. So we did the same thing as usual--did the entire finale up to about where the trucks turn off the highway to go to the final drop at the lighthouse. Then I went to "Find New Session." When I got back to my apartment to start it for real, it was marked as "recently completed."

 

What gives? We didn't reach the drop marker. The closest of the two trucks was just going down the road from the highway; the other one was still on the highway. I was the heist host and I quit out. Everyone else got a message that the heist leader had left, and no one got paid or saw the final cutscene. But now we're back at square one.

 

Seems like I just got screwed but I really don't know why.

I had something similar happen to me once but it was on Pacific Standard finale trying to finish up Criminal Mastermind Challenge. I contacted R* with zero luck. I ended up having to run the setups with randoms and then do the finale with the same crew so they could still get the trophy and cash.

95% sure they are working on some sort of administration scripts, and while this is entirely a wild guess on my part, its possible that 'the system' simply went "looks like they are trying to repeat heist finale, f- that, end it"

I would suggest you could contact R* support about this, just describe what happened (dont include what i think happened) and see what they say, if the message is any sort of vague (or, they actually describe something like the above, but small chance they will) then please share.

Had the same thought. If that is what happened, their scripts are not very good, to put it mildly. Not one of us actually reached the final objective marker. Might submit a ticket and just see what they say, but given the quality of the usual responses from their support drones, I'm not expecting much.
