Photography Locations

I’m looking for recommendations for specific locations that are great for car photography. Any ideas?

Alternatively if you can suggest any PS4-compatible photography jobs, that’d be great, too.

Caesars Place. It’s a road near the golf course/Michaels house. Always been one of my faves. Just a pain to get in as you have to Cargobob your vehicle onto the driveway. The gate does not open like others do. (At least you won’t risk a scratch) 😬

Great thread idea btw. I enjoy good photography. 👍

while i have done quite a few pics i cant recommend a single spot because i go by feeling, when i feel like taking a pic with a specific car i just drive it around the map til i stumble upon the spot, then if i need something like lights and stuff like that i just use the creator to get what i need, most of the time i end up with what i envisioned haha

so yeah, my recommendation just drive around the map, try to think of the type of pic you want to take etc

here is one of mine, nothing to write home about it but i got exactly what i wanted.

good luck

On a related note, what’s the best technique for getting high-quality images on PS4? I thought it was to turn off the minimap, go into first person, and take a screenshot. But the images are relatively low-quality. Or maybe I’ve just been seeing too many images from PCs...

That's probably the case. I'm on PC aswell and I don't know what kind of magic some people use, even on 1080p. There's not much you can do with a regular PS4 for high quality pictures. I usually take a screenshot on the Editor and then an in-game snap so I can re-upload the screenshot but the textures are still low quality.

As for locations. I like the reflections on that red parking bulding on Pillbox Hill when it's raining, although you'd need a custom job to get rain at night. Same for airstrips, but the houses around the golf club on Rockford Hills are the usual go-to places

With screenshot do you mean snapmatic?

No, I meant screenshot. Screenshots (using the Share button) are higher-quality images than the in-game Snapmatic phone camera.

With screenshot do you mean snapmatic? Unfortunately these get automatically downscaled to 960×536 resolution or similar, plus jpg compression. Personally I'm fine with that because my pics aren't good enough to warrant >HD resolution and multi-MB sizes.

You can screenshot while you're using Snapmatic. That way you get unlimited pictures in high quality (by PS4 standards anyway), whilst still having access to the filters and frames. You might need to adjust the safezone, and edit the edge of the frames afterwards to remove the on-screen text, but it's better than being stuck with tiny JPGs.

I like the Del Perro Pier. The lights.. the beach...the city backdrop. Just the reasons I like it.

The few times i take pics of my rides i like the car to be the centerpiece of the photo and the surroundings should not distract from it, so i prefer very basic (boring?) spots like the golfcourse, on a random hill with the city in the background, or if im to lazy to drive somewhere, i feel like even a simple sidewalk parking job can beat any fancy location.

All due respect, but isn't the joy in this found by exploring the map and picking the perfect places/scenarios with the vehicles you love tuned to look like how you like them all part of the fun in getting that awesome snapshot?

My advice is just go explore, try diffent cars/bikes/scenarios etc and try and find that perfect combination in a moment that means more to you than it could anyone. :)

Maybe for you, but I’m not you. I just want to get a nice photo as quickly as possible so I can go back to actually playing the game. That’s why I asked for locations, not philosophies.

Meh, you can't be me, I'm not that boring. Was just some friendly advice, no need to get all pissy, lol. I consider doodling about and looking for cool photo ops as playing is all.

You want a photo asap, just snap one wherever you currently are. Job done. *snooze*

Who said anything about beating you? There’s no competition in anything I said.

I’m well aware that I can snap a photo wherever I am. If that’s all I wanted to do, I’d hardly ask where are some great photo opportunity spots.

I never said anything about you beating me, lol. Don't be silly.

You said 'I'm not you' and I responded with 'you can't be me' and that exploring spots to take photos is playing the game IMO. Enjoy it.

You’re right; I misread your reply. I blame it on not wearing my reading glasses. But re-reading what you did actually say, I can’t help but notice you did try to make it into a competition, by comparing the way I play to the way you play, and assigning a value judgement to the comparison that makes yours out to be better by implying that mine is boring. Racing and cruising with friends is hardly what I’d consider to be “boring”. There’s no need to make this into a competition, just play the way you like and take your own advice (“enjoy it”) and leave other players to play and enjoy the game the way they like.

Yeah, I can see what you mean. I was more being cynical than anything as I agree, enjoy GTA how we each like.

Just felt you took my initial comment to heart too much as I do believe the better way to get a sweet snapshot is to find what fits you. My intent wasn't to insult you but to just offer some alternative advice and your reply to that caught me at a poor time and I went with the more cynical approach. My bad and apologies. :)
