Depends on what you like and your tolerance for bugs. For me it is fun, but I am glad I did not pay full price. The pace is slow. It is more of a game for completionists and people that like exploring/completing side-quests/challenges. For people like that/us it is fun. It is also a game for people that enjoy using guides/youtube videos to learn the game. There is far too much content that is not explained properly by the game if you hate guides/videos. It is full of bugs and flawed designs that the devs seem to have no interest in fixing. The UI and menus are horrid for those expecting a PC experience, they are mostly on-par for consoles. Although it is not the same, I suggest buying Red Dead Online ($5 at this time) and if you decide that the overall game is fun enough then you consider buying the Story mode for $40. Online and Story are quite different but are still the same at the core (same map, same controls, same overall mechanics). Just remember that Online has quite a few hackers and griefers, but there are ways to mostly avoid them (like playing in Defensive mode) thus making them a minor nuisance instead of a problem. Also, DO NOT buy gold with money, earn it as you play. And DO NOT buy any of the roles unless they are on sale/discount.
