mark187
I downloaded both PC versions of GTA 1 and 2 from the official site and GTA 2 works on my wife’s laptop no problem. However I can’t get 1 to work even when changing the screen resolution to the suggested size
ThermalSmoke
Can you be more specific? You can't boot the game up or it just can't run well? Edited February 11, 2021 by ThermalMoon Grammar correction
mark187
It won’t boot up at all, keep getting an error. I saw a similar thread had already been posted below so it sounds like it’s a common issue
ThermalSmoke
"Error 296.473, cannot find the default display mode" If you are receiving this error, it's simple to fix. Go to the root GTA 1 folder, and run "GTA settings" as administrator. Once you have picked the settings you comfortable with, save and run the EXE. The game should work fine now. If this isn't the error you are receiving, then I would recommend re-installing the game in case you messed up somewhere. I would be more than glad to help you install it again, since I did the process myself. To my knowledge, this is the only problem I ran across while trying to play the game. Oh, and game aside, what are your PC specs? This could also contribute to how the game will run. If it isn't as strong as a Desktop or at least run the minimum of games, it won't play too well. If that's the case, I suggest getting Max Pack. It's in the GTA 1 forum and should be the 2nd pinned topic. That will run anything, even a low powered laptop. Hope to hear back from you.
