JaeDan 101
Sorry if its a silly question, but can any of you guys answer? I installed both GTA 1 and GTA 2 a while ago but I didn't played it yet. It is said in the website that the game will run on 640x480 resolution on latest versions of Windows Can I run GTA 1 and GTA 2 on HD (1366x768) resolution? ThermalSmoke
No. Both games sadly run at a 1024x786 (I might be misremembering those numbers). That is the highest you can set them. For GTA 1, let's go with the official Rockstar version, you could change the settings in-game by pressing F11 and change the resolution to the highest setting, 1024x786. If you would like the game to have a "widescreen" resolution, then you could download this patch here: [REDACTED DUE TO FORUM RULES]. Edit: Sorry I can't link it to you, I don't want to get in trouble with moderators. But just search up, "Widescreen Fixes Pack". It should be the 1st or 2nd link that will lead you to a site full of widescreen patches of GTA games. The GTA 1 patch should be at the bottom, probably with a picture of GTA London 1969/1961. I warn you, even though the game will remove the black bars, the textbox will suffer and become sizably small and hard to read if you are playing. So I don't recommend this. If you are using the Max Pack, all you have to do is run the Max Pack EXE on windowed mode and click on video, then check off "Aspect Correction". This will remove the black bars and it kind of helps. Realistically, it makes the game look stretched, even if I don't really notice it, but the textbox doesn't suffer and it still looks good (IMO). As for GTA 2, there are also 2 versions of this. The Rockstar official and the fan-made version 11.44. Just like GTA 1, the highest resolution you could set the game is 1024x786. But the good news is that no matter what version you pick, both support the widescreen patch. Even better, you can even change the top-down view to how low or high you want it. Now you don't even have to go full speed just to see 5 meters ahead of you anymore. By the way, I am curious, from what website did you Install GTA 1 and 2?
