He's cool enough and has some good lines but he has all the depth of a 3D era protagonist (not much). Arthur is one of the most well written, complex and human characters in gaming, with a modern level of character writing he's as deep and well developed as the best movie or TV characters. But in seriousness, SA was never the story driven experience that RDR2 is, so of course Arthur is much deeper, much more refined. SA was just a balls to the wall, crazy experience essentially. I actually don’t mind CJ nowadays, but objectively Arthur is a far more fleshed out and more realised character. CJ’s cool for the type of game San Andreas is as it’s not meant to be taken too seriously, but Arthur’s on a whole different level. KingAJ032304 Posted June 11, 2021 Share Posted June 11, 2021 (edited) One thing Arthur isn't given enough credit for is how his character manages to truly dwindle practically any seeps of Ludonarrative Dissonance while still giving us a lot of varied stuff to do gameplay wise.
