He later says that he was the lead singer of his band, and they were likely at least slightly well known. Why did all of the other band members turn out famous but the lead singer doesn't? A few examples: Ozzy Osbourne got fired from Black Sabbath then had a very successful solo career David Coverdale left Deep Purple and formed Whitesnake Ronnie James Dio left Rainbow, joined and left Sabbath and then formed Dio Michael Jackson left The Jackson 5 and probably had the successful and influential solo career of all time Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
billiejoearmstrong8 Posted March 10 Share Posted March 10 (edited) I think it's just to explain why he ended up as a radio DJ. If he had a successful solo career he wouldn't be doing that. Being the lead singer doesn't automatically make someone the most talented or the most able to do well on their own. The lead singer is often the main songwriter but if someone else in the band was writing the songs and he only sang them (and maybe didn't play any instruments either) it could make having a successful solo career less likely.
