The british Pop band "Spandau Ballet" has chosen a pretty weird name for the Band from a german point of view.

Spandau Ballet is a german term from World War I

The german machine gun (08/15) was produced in Spandau ( now part of Berlin)

The term describes the last movement of dying soldiers that were hit by the gun

After Pablo Escobar was killed in 1993, his pet hippos escaped into Colombia's rivers. What started as 4 has now become more than 100 hippos. They are set to double again in the next 5-7 years—unless authorities decide to intervene. They are called "Cocaine Hippos".

Some species of salamanders can regenerate their entire bodies, including their limbs, organs, and even parts of their brain.

While humans have limited regenerative abilities, such as the ability to heal cuts and broken bones, salamanders take regeneration to a whole new level. They are capable of regrowing lost body parts, including limbs and even parts of their spinal cord.

Scientists are studying these amazing creatures to better understand their regenerative abilities and how they might be harnessed to treat injuries and diseases in humans.

But how do salamanders do it?. It turns out that they have a unique set of genes that allow them to regenerate their bodies. When a salamander loses a body part, these genes are activated, and the cells at the site of the injury begin to divide and differentiate to form new tissues.

The Berlin borough of Treptow-Köpenick is nearly double the size of Paris

German paratroopers in ww2 had to jump nearly unarmed ( they only carried a knife) and had to collect their weapons on the ground ( they were dropped seperatly)

The world's oldest known living organism is a seagrass meadow.

Posidonia oceanica, a type of seagrass found in the Mediterranean Sea, has been growing for over 80,000 years, making it the oldest known living organism on the planet. These meadows cover thousands of square miles and are home to a variety of marine life, including fish, crustaceans, and sea turtles.

The longevity of Posidonia oceanica is due to its unique ability to clone itself. As the seagrass meadow grows, it sends out horizontal shoots, which take root and grow into new plants. Over time, this process has allowed the meadow to spread and thrive for thousands of years.

There have been instances of bacterial spores encrusted for more than 250 million years in salt being revived, which are by a truly enormous margin the oldest living organisms.

The longest word in the English language has 189,819 letters and is the chemical name for the protein, Titin.

While the full name of Titin is too long to pronounce, the vast majority of its letters are repetitions of just three letters: "e," "a," and "i." Even so, Titin's name is too long to be written on a standard paper.

The world’s most successful pirate in history was a lady.

Named Ching Shih, she was a prostitute in China. This was until the Commander of the Red Flag Fleet bought and married her.

But rather than just viewing her as a wife, her husband considered her his equal, and she became an active pirate commander in the fleet.

Ching Shih soon earned the respect of her fellow pirates. So much so that after her husband’s death, she became the captain of the fleet.

Under Shih’s leadership, the Red Flag Fleet consisted of over 300 warships. She even had a possible 40,000 – 80,000 men, women, and children.

They terrorized the waters around China. The Red Flag Fleet was such a fearsome band of raiders that the Chinese government eventually pardoned Ching Shih and her entire fleet – just to get them off the high seas.

Oxford University is older than the Aztec Empire, having been founded in the 12th century. As early as 1096, teaching had already started in Oxford. By 1249, It had grown into a full-fledged university.
