To be fair, I only like and listen to one of the remaining radio stations when I'm online and have reduced the volume and mostly don't listen to them at all because nothing can withstand EIGHT years of GTA online on constant repeat. Totally ridiculous. I remember how impressed I was at launch and beyond at how much of an improvement the online aspect of GTA 5 was over its predecessors and how it met my expectations at the time, and look here... we have GTA online still running strong in 2021, but radio stations were and still continue to be a disappointment in terms of quality, but that is my opinion, nothing more. So many stations are a let down and don't have enough top-quality material, and Channel X is no exception. I'm not sure what it is trying to be, but if it's punk, it's nowhere near what I enjoy or know.

For me, this has been a largely boring game and I'm surprised there hasn't been more spice, dispute and discussion about one of the most controversial and debatable topics out there... music. Most artist go through years of struggles honing their craft, but if you don't like it then that's the end of it because it's not your taste and purely subjective, which is what makes music so great and unlike any other form of entertainment. I guarantee that no-one in this universe shares my exact tastes, and vice versa.

Most of the time I listen to self radio which I have songs that I never get old of listening to. It's a fairly short track list but quality > quantity I suppose. Sometimes I flick on Radio Mirror Park or Non Stop Pop to see if there's a song I like that happens to be playing but only occasionally. LS Rock Radio has definitely gotten stale for me with the only songs I still enjoy from that station being "Fortunate Son" and "Shadows of the Night." The song "Roundabout" just makes me rage - I just hate that jojo meme so much (seriously just show me the end of the clip, I hate cliffhangers and especially unresolved cliffhangers). I blame the mission design in this game where we can't fast travel and must spend minutes to driving to the other side of the map just to engage in a gunfight that maybe lasts a minute. Maybe in GTA 6 radio stations would be able to stream from real stations directly...?

This game has been fairly predictable. LSRR is up top and will probably win. The spanish station got eliminated first. The only things I didn't really expect were Vinewood Boulevard Radio being so high and Flylo lasting as long as it did, reason being is that to me VBR sounds pretty much identical to Channel X (yet only has 27 points) and Flylo is just rhythmic noise. While I'm ranting out some hot takes on music, I f*cking loathe Los Santos Underground Radio. 4 and half f*cking hours of songs that consist mostly of a bass riff on repeat, mostly no vocals (not usually a problem, but when the instrumentals are as bland as these, it matters), and sounds like background music to a low-budget horror film. Luckily it's packaged with the nightclub stuff which is overall a good update imo - if it was a standalone station like Kult FM I would be a much less happy camper because an 80 gb game like GTA definitely doesn't have enough bloat.

Ewwww LS underground radio is higher than the Lowdown and Channel X. That music gets so repetitive when you spend a lot of time in the nightclubs. Lowdown has some classics and Channel X is fun to listen to when you're rampaging around the map with Trevor.

VBR is about as close to Channel X, as LSRR is to Rebel Radio.

But they're all guitar music. 😄

Just an aside if you try to claim you like Mirror Park and don’t like LSRR, or vice versa, I’m not buying it for an instant ;)

Why? LSRR is classic rock, and RMP is basically modern new wave. New wave purposefully sought to distinguish itself from mainstream/corporate rock, an attitude that is today the defining characteristic of hipsterdom.

It would be a lot more strange to downvote LSRR while upvoting VBR. 😉

That’s my point I guess, as genres they’re pretty similar. You don’t need to seek to distinguish yourself if audibly you’re chalk and cheese, the acoustics speak for themselves. They’re on the same pitch, and you might have a favourite but they’re offering similar stuff, stations like Channel X and the Lowdown are playing and entirely different ball game.

Well, the addition of synthesizers is a pretty noticeable audible distinction. But as I said before, I just find LSRR boring. I knew almost the entire track list before playing GTA 5. Discovering new music is a pretty significant element of my enjoyment of GTA games.

I'm still surprised there's less Latin music in V than previous GTAs, quite disappointing really.

Cuban/Brazilian/South American/Portuguese music is generally a very special blend of exotic and familiar, easily some of the most accessible even to those from completely different cultures.

Very true. Probably my favorite station left in the game is Non-Stop-Pop FM, but if I hear that Jane Child song again of the damned Blow Monkeys I might seriously kick the TV in 😆. Eight years of death by radio station lol.

That's one reason I ran Self Radio for ever, at least until I couldn't stand the announcer's insults any more.

If you could turn off the commercials and commentary it would have been much better.
