Would it make sense to create a gtaf alternative in phpbb? Spider-Vice Posted January 26, 2021 Share Posted January 26, 2021 Well, first we've been using Invision since 2001 and our database has always been in that format. Changing to another forum platform at this point in time would be asking for trouble, as it is many dozens of gigabytes in size with millions upon millions of posts, and if we already had issues migrating between IPB versions in the past, imagine migrating to something like PHPBB suddenly. It's really not easy for any sysadmin to handle databases of a very very large size like ours. Secondly, Invision, despite being buggy and its development direction being a bit... lacking in priorities, still is the platform with the most community-friendly tools, best moderator and admin tools, etc. Warning systems in phpbb and Xenforo are absolutely horrible for instance in comparison. I've admined all of them in the past and I still prefer IPB personally.
