GTA Vice City is better than VCS

Title says it all

The animations in Vice City are more realistic in mission cutscenes. But in VCS, they suck like sh*t. And every time a character is talking, you will notice the mouth moving in a very different way than people do. You guys agree with this?

Tommy taking over Vice City felt a lot more satisfying than Vic doing it. Also Tommy's Assets was to me more interesting than the generic Empire businesses in VCS though Empire building is a more fleshed out version of VC's Assets but I still liked the VC one cause of the unique and interesting missions from each

I like the Phil Collins appearance but Love Fist was more fun, yeah even Boomshine Blowout was. Though tbf it kicks ass that we got to attend Phil's concert in VCS

And everybody loves saying VCS has better music in unpopular opinions but imo nothing touches VC's Wave 103 and Flash FM

VCS does a lot of things better and I'm glad it exists, but Tommy Vercetti's story was the best power fantasy story in GTA imo and thats enough for me to prefer it

The only thing I really like about VCS is the empire building, but even that’s stupid when you have all these ugly buildings sandwiched between hotels and such.

I also dislike VCS’s aesthetic which looks too cartoony and the neons  are cranked up to a ridiculous level whereas Vice City looks more more realistic and has a more “Scarface” 1980s vibe rather than the overstylised look of VCS.

Then there’s the fact that Vic sucks balls compared to Tommy.

For me, it's the other way around because VCS has more features than VC, and better story.

Both are outstanding games.

I'm gonna ask a really stupid question if you dont mind, dont need to answer if you find it too stupid

were you this guy @MyNameIsNotImportantBro /OmarMohammed? cause I get somewhat similar vibes while I see your profile, so was just curious

VC is a classic, VCS is forgettable.

and VCS is psp and ps2 only. it's not even available on PSN.

most people probably don't even know VCS exists.

I mean, I feel the same, even if I don't hold VC in that high a regard. The thing is, VCS was made for the PSP and a PS2 port didn't arrive until six months later. Despite the boasts about how powerful the PSP was, it had half the RAM to work with and after a little bit of digging, the processor was permanently underclocked. If developers were allowed to utilise every bit of power the PSP had to offer, I don't think the battery would be able to run anything for very long. I expect VCS to be a little bit worse than VC, simply because the PS2 is more powerful than the PSP.

Yeah, but VC is more realistic tho

TBH both are cartoony but the reason why you don't feel that in VC is because the characters were cliche movie based characters ( which gives the game its own vibe and I love it) so that made everything you do in the game feel realistic

Meanwhile VCS had realistic characters who represent their environment and every character feels human

When you compare them you'll find that both aren't realistic

Actually VC is even less realistic

I mean Tommy stole a tank from military, took over Diaz's mansion somehow , formed a huge crime family from nowhere , commited a lot of crimes without covering his face and using his name like what he did in the mall  for example during the mission where he destroyed the mall without his face being covered and said stuff like "Vercettie remember that name" to show the city and the cops that he's strong and they can't handle him but logically this can't happen

Anyway VC is a video game that's supposed to make me feel powerful so all of these unrealistic stuff aren't bad they're great and do their job very well

Realistic doesn't always mean better

What you're talking about is the difference between mocapped cutscenes vs scripted cutscenes. LCS and VCS tend to fall back on scripted ones because it's easier and faster to do, also takes up less space than a full cutscene.

Vice City > Vice City Stories any day. However, VCS's melee was argubably better than the rest of the 3D era.

Vice city stories melee was amazing but i still prefer vice city's. Tommy was able to do directional attacks with elbows and kicks to the enemies surrounding him. Which is something present only in GTA 5 only it feels horribly scripted because enemies attack you one at a time and you have the same 3 boring punches and a kick. In vice city they attack you all at the same time and Tommy has different punches and kicks. He could even literally use his head. GTA vc melee with vcs grabbing mechanics would be amazing.

I agree . VCS 100% list had a lot of very boring & annoying side missions, Victor would complain & complain about how he didn't want to be involved in drugs , but throughout the game he blatantly ignores that statement & comes off looking like a complete hypocrite.   It also had the most for the 100% list in any of the 3D era games considering it was Rockstar's last 3D game

Vice City on the other hand was very impressive for being completed in about 9 months after the release of GTA III

Also lets not forget the music in both games are great , but i'd rather choose Vice City over VCS

Not really "annoying" and "very boring", They are both fun

What I'm telling is, VC is more realistic in my opinion

The only thing that makes me f*cking hate VCS are these helicopter sidemissions.

They are boring ASF and they take hours to beat why would I waste my time doing them?

Exactly my point of why i thought it was very annoying

Its certainly got a way better protagonist, seriously why did rockstar decide to make a drug hating protag in a game all about drug dealing?

Also yeah the helicopter missions were awful.

1) I really liked Vick. It killed me to know he would never be able to play 'Cane and Abel', he earned every right to beat his no good, pos brother to death, brutally, savagely, then setting him on fire with a Molotov cocktail.

2) I love VCS gave us backstory on VC

with that said, it was obviously scaled down for the platform they were releasing it on. Add to that, you had 'GoodFellas' Ray playing Tommy as a perfect fit on a game made for a PS2. VCS could never win this, but it wasn't meant to, I always felt like it was meant to be a supplement.

Both games were good, but VC was definitely the BEST of the 3D Era in terms of storyline and main character personality. On the other hand, VCS had an interesting story, but most of the time Vic never can get out of trouble, and some aspects of the storyline make it one of the most sad games of the GTA series (I've never played the HD universe since I got a cr*ppy PC, and didn't bother playing GTA 1 and its expansions, and GTA 2). And, VCS' last missions were god d*mn difficult, specially the one where you have to protect Gonzalez' convoy with an M249. I s*ck at manual aiming on consoles (I played both VCS and LCS with PPSSPP), it would have been better if they released PC versions of both Stories.

And VC's storyline shows you the ultimate badass among all the 3D universe protagonists, Why would someone like VCS over VC?

Given the nature of the two games, it's not a surprise. Vice City was the hot sequel to GTA3, and made graphical and gameplay improvements from the previous game in almost every aspect.

VCS, meanwhile, was released in 2006 as a "filler" of sorts between San Andreas and GTA4. On top of still running on the Renderware engine (which even by 2004 when San Andreas released, was looking progressively dated alongside some other games of the time), it was also originally a PSP exclusive, so the graphics had to be nerfed even harder than normal. So, being an initial PSP exclusive running already outdated hardware with what, at first glance, could be called a "copy/pasted map with a few differences", it already had a lot going against it from the start.

But with all that said, I particularly like the concept of Vice City Stories - going back to a place we recognize, but a few years earlier and seeing the differences between those two times.

I think the GTA series really seems to be at its best when it's acting like a "time machine" of sorts.

Few weeks ago i watched a video series about "Side Missions of GTA VCS", i compared it with VC and i asked myself.. "Wovv I can't believe there are much more cool and useful stuff than VC" and i wished to have some of these in VC :) To be honest VCS could be better without this horrible and cartoonish graphics ;)

Actually R*L3D but it was a rushed together engine meant to basically emulate how RW handled things without using RW.

Ah, okay, I stand corrected.

That probably explains why everything has that weird look to it, too.
