It’s an open world third person shooter which revolves around a guy who makes money by killing, stealing etc. The gameplay is repetitive and doesn’t throw random crap around like some other titles. Controls are clunky. Boring? Not to me. It feels very consistent and entertaining to me. Both the story and gameplay. It’s a very different game from San Andreas and V, I think i understand why you find it boring. GTA SA Missions were mostly shooting based but it's shooting with something new everytime to keep the player a bit engaged. It's no secret that IV is lacking in some of the more over-the-top features that the series has become beloved for. It's easy to dismiss, but there are some activities present even in the 3D universe that you can't do in IV's Liberty, and that's not even taking into consideration your casinos, rocket bikes and jetpacks that seem to saturate almost any GTA:O lobby. What IV does have, and what I admire it for, is a dense and atmospheric environment. It doesn't rely on gimmicks, flashy clothes, pools of money or pink camouflage weaponry to engage you. It's depressing, dirty, hopeless and bleak. It's a side of the franchise we hadn't really seen since III in terms of mood. There's no respite or joy for our protagonist. His ends justify his means. Just think about it for a minute - an immigrant with a tortured past lured to a country that promises a better life by an ever-optimistic and exaggeratory cousin who has a penchant for denial and lies. All that glitters was not gold. It turns out the life that was waiting for Niko was no different in the USA than in Serbia. Is this all he was made for, all he was good for? It's the same story all over again, and his past continues to haunt him, with no real escape until the bitter end. Depending on how cruel your choices are, you either leave him with a hollow victory or the sudden loss of the one thing that made it all worthwhile. It isn't sunshine, rainbows, EDM, drugs and violent raves. If you want and expect that, sure, IV is going to be a letdown. However, for the time it was released it really was a new experience and I feel like if you've joined the series late on with V or even Online, you're going to struggle with IV at times.
