DistractedJack
If your approach vehicle you have chosen is the Kosatka, you have to complete a prep. The prep is very simple. You will need to find the Merry weather Submarine under the water near Blaine county. Go in and find the Sonar equipment and then return it to your submarine. I am having trouble completing this quickly and without dying. It is very difficult as there are Helicopters and Dinghy s with Merry weather NPC's in them.  Anyone have a method that's quick and practical?  -DistractedJack
SummerFreeze
Fast-travel to the location with your Kosatka, then submerge and (optional) shorten the distance to the enemy sub, enable autopilot so your sub stays submerged, put on a scuba suit and dive (still underwater) from your submarine to the enemy submarine. DistractedJack
That is a good method. I will try this later today. Thank you! SummerFreeze
cybapete
i tried using the avisa submersible (don't) it's slow and constantly wants to ascend for some reason and after all that, i got to the other sub, swam over & found the sonar gear then i found out my submersible had surfaced.........where the enemies were  i have heard of another method where you move kosatka nearby, take the sparrow & fly over, shoot everything up then summon a dinghy and just crash the sparrow after you swim to the merryweather sub and find the sonar gear swim up to the dinghy and hightail it back to the kosatka

xXManATeeXx
What I usually do is fast travel as close as I can to the objective with the sub. Once there I start driving the sub towards the boats and blow them up with torpedoes. I'll then switch to the guided missiles and blow the helicopter up. Swim down, collect, swim up, job complete.
Vallence
You don't have to surface the Kosatka to enter it, so you can park it with a hatch right next to the MW sub's entrance. Turn on autopilot -> Leave Kosatka -> Enter MW sub -> Shoot up the place -> Leave MW sub -> Enter Kosatka If you have trouble with the guys inside doing loads of damage in the tight spaces, toss a grenade into each room before you enter. Pedinhuh
I don't know of a quick way that doesn't end up messy or doesn't involve the Stromberg or the Toreador.  But a secure way is to quick travel to the MW submarine location and use the diving gear provided in your sub, get out your sub by one of the hatches and swin to the other sub and you will remain undetected.  While inside the sub, be sure to be packing a Shotgun so you can dispatch enemies quickly, toss some explosives on each room before entering so you kill some of the goons without even engaging them.  Once you're out, just swin back to your Submarine. IsekaiExpress
I was always fasttravelling Kosatka close to the sub, travel underwater, then boarded the Ramius, chucked grenades, minding Miller's advice and fulled rooms with lead from Autoshotgun. Â I usually fasttravel near the location, drive to it while surfaced (cause its faster), then go to periscope depth and blow up the boats with the torpedos and the heli with the persiscope. After that fully submerge to the depth of the other sub, enable autopilot and just swim over with the scuba. Rotorhead359
Gridl0k
I found once on board, to save getting lost or killed, I would go left and forwards to check the bridge. If the sonar isn't there I go back to where you start, right and down the ladder, then forwards to the torpedo room.  And if you don't know the dpad-L quick throw control learn it  Also the merryweather crates have health, armour and ammo. DistractedJack
Thanks everyone for you methods. Every route people take seems to be the same lol. (obviously)  I tried the sub method yesterday and it worked really well, great for speed running preps. Saves you a lot of time! Edited January 21, 2021 by DistractedJack

SummerFreeze
Inside the sub I never had a problem using the assault shotgun in 1st person view. Â In 3rd person view enemies around a corner to your right can shoot at you while you don't even see them.
TheGasmeter
Submerge the sub and pull alongside the MW sub. Activate autopilot and voila, you will not have a single shot fired at you outside of the sub.  As for inside, I just cover against the wall, line up my shot, and pump away with the aggressor shottie. Best result is if the sonar is on the top floor in the hub. Second best is if you see the black box isn't on the big screen (use the camera and don't even bother shooting the 2 guards in there if it's not there).  Head back to the entrance and take the ladders down to the floor below and it's pot luck. Make your choice. See if it's in the room with the steps, or down in the missile room at the back. The guards always spawn in the same location, so they are not hard to memorise. HopalongCasidy

Either way down is fine, I just turn back for the simple reasons that I've cleared that strait, and just leave the 2 guards in the hub room. I usually check the stairs room as it's slightly closer than when it spawns at the very back of the missile room.  Either way is cool though, but with armour, I can't remember coming close to dying. OP, I will be uploading a video later in the "Go it solo" topic if you need a visual to what I've described above. Aquamaniac
Is there a way to leave and enter the Kosatka when it is underwater? Driving the Kosatka to the area and retrieving the sonar went well so far but the helis butchered me when I went on surface, I had the Kosatka dived but when I left it, it was on surface. Â Somebody mentioned autopilot but I didn't find that option, how to put on autopilot? Edited January 23, 2021 by Aquamaniac Taterman

Nutduster
Bit off topic but this is definitely one of the dumbest preps for any heist. Why do we have to redo it every time, exactly...? I understand in theory why we source new weapons, equipment, and entry vehicles (other than the Kosatka) each time, because we don't want El Rubio finding them and tracing them back to us. Fine and dandy. But the sonar jammer 1) stays on the Kosatka--OUR PERSONAL KOSATKA, might I add--and he would never see it. And 2) we never use it, except just once for this heist? Why am I stealing this super-useful piece of equipment multiple times and then using it just once each time and throwing it away? Â They should have come up with a better prep mission than this one. Maybe "steal a distraction boat and a suicidal idiot to captain it, so the patrol boats chase him while we sneak up in the sub." Something like that. This sh*t makes no sense. The hangar missions are incredibly stupid btw, some water vehicle would be the better choice in many cases. SummerFreeze
MechanicMammal
Only done this one once, on the sub it was fine. I used the Toreado to get there and when I exited the Sub the Toreado had drifted up to the surface half stuck on some rocks right by enemy boats and those damn infinatly instant respawning buzzards. I died loads of times repicking up the sonar and trying to get to my ride. I will try SummerFreeze's method if I bother in the future.

Verstappen
While swimming from sub to sub seems the easiest. Has anyone tried ‘parking’ the Toreador/Stromburg under the Ramius when you go in? Might stop it from drifting to the surface since I think the Ramius has a flat underside. Semaj 2JZ♢
A little late, but, fast travel to closest position near the mission carona. Drive the sub at the surface to right next to the search circle. Shoot enemies woth periscope. Dive down, retrieve jammer and swim back to your sub. Won't use enough time to even worry about the attack choppers on your return trip. Grabbing the re-breathers in the enemy sub is also an option.
