It's unreal how much hacking is going on. I swear I have not been able to play for one hour without being teleported into 50 bears, or exploded in flames, or be made to fall through the ground into nothing. Why is nothing being done about this?... why isn't there a Hackers "megathread". Hacks are completely out of control. At any rate, that really shouldn't be the only way to avoid the hackers.... I can't believe the devs seem to be just going to let it roll. It's not right. I don't expect there's much they can do about it. It's plagued GTA for years. Hackers will always find a way. Use a console if you want to avoid that kind of thing. Same, it finally got viable to game on them for good; plus the cost of ownership is so much lower, to play nearly as well as on an optimum PC. There are ways to prevent that on the PC, though, they just take work from the company. World of Warcraft does a pretty good job. It greatly limits what they can "do" as a hack, while it also eventually catches up to the people doing the stuff and bans them in waves. The only things people can really "hack" in that, are things like teleporting to herb/mine spawn points or such, or running the character as a "bot." Rockstar just seems to leave the whole thing open to users, which is really weird and sloppy; there is no way holes should be open where a player can affect other users, or spawn things, that should all be server side only. Consoles will never match the power, abilities and other things that PCs have and PC games allow for mods which make games 100 times better. They also open up options within games that don't come with the one size fits all consoles. By the time the newest consoles hit the market they are already a few years behind the best PCs and rather than having to buy a new PC every few years the hardware can be updated individually as needed. The things about mods, and I'll use Civ 6 as an example, is that there are so many that each player can create a unique game for themselves rather than relying on a developer to attempt to do it. With Civ 6 I doubt there are 2 players that have the exact same setup with their game. THAT is unique. Console players are stuck with the experience the developer gives you. Unfortunately there are those that use mods in a way they weren't intended but my experience was they were few and far between. They were annoying when I did run across them but just change server and continue on till the next one. There were times I could go 4 or 5 days, 8 hours per day without running across any modders. There were times that I would run into 2 or 3 in a day, but that was my fault for playing during the hours that I know the Russian and Chinese modders are most prevalent. It blows my mind that R* thinks they will be able to sell online for $20 in a few months. It is barely worth they $5 they are currently asking for as the "introductory" price. IamCourtney Posted January 20, 2021 Share Posted January 20, 2021 My gaming philosophy is: Console for most multiplayer and the odd exclusive title here and there, PC for modded single player experiences and certain genres that are just best on the platform. A decent gaming rig will see you through the better part of a decade before it even starts to feel significantly underpowered and with my options open I can wait a year or two into a console generation before I switch over, when major bugs have been worked out and there's actually a decent selection of games.
