SA had the best cut features in the series

Don't even argue with me on that one

I miss it when the games were still so arcadey that there were some really random over the top fun missions (usually not part of the main story), which a modern game like GTA Online would have to justify with an extremely drawn out Lester monologue and a ridiculous amount of lampshading that misses the entire point of just having fun.

Talking about the SPANKed up suicide bombers in III, the arena survival mayhem against angry cabbies in VC, or just about any RC mission from SA.

Yeah, random unrelated missions were always pretty fun, Kingdom Come probably being the most out there one. Unfortunately they were a product of their time and would probably be relentlessly shat on if they showed up now but I for one would love a return of these type of missions.

I never understood why it took until GTA IV to finally have rideable taxis when the basic mechanic was already in place with “trip skip”. In San Andreas especially I would’ve appreciated this for those times where you needed to go to the other side of the map particularly failing a mission. Those long drives back got really annoying I tell you.

Here's a fun fact: VC, LCS and VCS have a special feature that's (internally) called Restart Taxi. For $9 (or free if you have no money), you can ride them back to your last mission giver's contact point after being Busted or Wasted while on a mission. What I don't get is why R* didn't implement it into SA even though they did it in the literally previous GTA game?

My guess was always that they wanted the player to explore that huge map himself

Now we just need a “Central Island Assassin” to complete the set.🤙

Round one is Cipriani, long one is Kipriani.:kekw:

Good catch, though, I never noticed that.:^: Maybe it was Toni's Late BETA face shape and R* Leeds forgot to update it to the final one?

Maybe

I never noticed it too until I played the mobile version and I don't know if that's only in the mobile version of the game or not  and if it affects the cutscenes versions of Toni too

I regret deleting the game I wanted to to a research about this but completely forgot

Speaking of Toni: In my opinion, Toni falls into a "misc"-ish category as a GTA protagonist. He's neither like-able, nor hate-able. Sometimes, he feels like how a talking version of Claude would feel, or sometimes a straight-up quick Tommy Vercetti rip-off (especially in "Dead Meat"). Although I did kinda "like" one thing about Toni: He fends off anyone who doesn't acknowledge his loyalty, like how verbally tore Vincenzo a new one over the phone for setting him up in "Hot Wheels", but then comes the fact that this dude has nothing better to do than running about for Sal which just... messes up stuff.

Man, I wish I could rewrite LCS' storyline. All of the characters' concepts are great, but there's so much wasted potential...

I feel like LCS was the project they had to make rather than wanted to make. The story hasn't got a clue as to what it tries or wants to be; it's like a random mishmash of unfocused, unrealised ideas stringed together in a far-fetched, forced manner.

Agreed. The way Sal gets arrested for "every crime in Liberty City" feels like a rehash of Sweet getting arrested in SA, except that Toni does almost nothing to get Sal out of custody whereas CJ ran about like a mentally-unstable bald chicken in Sweet's case.

By the way, a good example of wasted character potential is Kazuki Kasen: The dude is literally Kenji and Asuka's elder brother and had a lot of potential in him with all of his power being shown off in LCS, but R* just totally messed up his concept by turning him into a "sword plunger" or whatever he tells Toni at the sword duel. And you know what's worse? You don't even have to fight him with a Katana, just pull out an M4 or whatever and shoot him. What kind of antagonist is that?

The hard thing about rewriting LCS' story is how you'll Literally do everything from the beginning by yourself since there's literally nothing

left to fix and there was no story even going on

I tried to rewrite it once and of course other than me being lazy I noticed how I will literally do everything by myself

Rockstar didn't help me even with the dialogues as 99% of them are not realistic and are just for quest giving

Spoiler

I hope Toni Cipriani dies a horrible and painful death

Edit : That was my 1000th post 🥳

The thing with writing a story is to make it interesting for yourself as well so you can find yourself working on it constantly.:)

I believe the real deal with LCS' storyline being bland is the new David Bland guy they hired for co-writing the game, the dude's Bland surname literally sank the entire storyline down.:kekw:

I thought I'd make this thread to serve as a general GTA chat thread of sorts, where you can talk about anything GTA that doesn't necessarily fit in topics like GTA Confessions or Unpopular Opinions. If you ever felt like saying something about GTA but which didnt warrant its own thread/didnt fit in any other thread then feel free to post here if you wish.

I'll start

I always thought that the gunshot at the ending of GTA III was just a cool parting shot for the game and find it funny how seriously some people take it to mean that Claude killed Maria. But then it's always nice to see some discussion, but I never for one second thought Claude decided to kill Maria just because she talked too much. Don't think Claude even showed any initiative like that throughout the game. He'd kill Maria without a second thought if someone ordered him to though.

well i also thought claude killed her but i knew that he didnt cuz he isnt some idiot, if maria was in the theory, it would be cuz he just thought "can you let me roll the credits in peace?"

but yea i guess it was a parting shot too.

Anyone else found the presence of CJ's house weird? It's a two story house in the middle of the ghetto and the only one (except for the house where OG Loc has his party) among all the one story houses. It's also well furnished so the image of the interior matches the outside. Every shot I have seen about Compton also showed single story houses. I wonder how CJ's family got that house and why does it stand out so much. You could argue that it's big so it would stand out but Sweet, Ryder and Smoke have unique houses as well which also stand out.

In my opinion, even though Fiona Gallagher did sub-standard voice acting for Maria Latore in LCS compared to Debi Mazar's excellent performance for her in III and SA, I gotta say she did a great job at screaming for Toni's help in "Taken For A Ride". It really feels like an actual reckless woman calling for help.

I think that Taxis in both Grand Theft Auto IV and Grand Theft Auto V should become invincible once we get into them as passengers.

Why? Because I don't want to get out of the smashed-up car, that's why. Let's pretend they didn't wreck the car.

I guess, but sometimes they decide to just wreck the car at the end, for example drive it staight into a bus stop.

I miss that fun car damage and explosions from GTA IV .

I know its kinda exaggerated, but mostly damage and explosions is that magic thing that keeps me playing games. Crashing cars, making chaos.

GTA V ps3, they toned damage down but still have GTA IV vibes and explosions are almost movie quality, but they completely ruined it on last gen thanks to first person view that nobody really ask for... And few cars have only scratches, seriously? And explosions are silly...

My hopes goes to another E and E version to balance things at least for singleplayer. Restore that balance!

Kinda agree with you there. Had Maria been shot, she would've screamed in pain or at least gasped for air, like Claude does in the intro. But then if it was a aerial shot to shut her up, Maria should've screamed in fear too. Her voice is just abruptly cut off for some strange reason.

Yeah, this reason is her being shot to death lol. You're overthinking it, guys. Claude obviously clipped her for laughs. GTA didn't take itself seriously back then, so some sort of dramatic analysis is hardly applicable here.

I'm saying that if she was shot or scared into being quiet, she would've reacted to it with a pain/fear scream. Not to mention, Maria was originally supposed to deliver a longer speech than what we have in the final game:

Quote

CAT2_F - I broke a nail, and my hair's ruined. Can you believe it? This one cost me fifty dollars!
CAT2_G - I was so scared, but then I thought to myself, you're a big girl now.
CAT2_H - Oh we're going to have such fun, cause, you know, my sister said she wanted to come to stay with her two kids,
CAT2_I - because her husband's playing around again and..

This comes straight from the unused subtitles found in the game's text files.

I believe the gunshot sound was most likely added as a replacement to that cut mid-credits "overly-touchy" scene involving Claude and Maria R* wanted to add to the mission, according to the leaked mission script source code found in the mobile version of the game.

I don't think she'd have been able to scream with a bullet blasted through her head or heart.

Mona gets shot in the head in Max Payne, but she still lets out a slight gasp for air before dying.

So I came across this and wanted to share with a larger audience.

Doesn't really count as a nostalgic video, being from 2019, but I'll be damned if it doesn't remind me of all that 2006 sh*t. It's even unintentionally hilarious given how music videos normally feature a lot of cuts and different angles, while this is just flying the same Camper all over the map, again and again. :colgate: Made my night last night tbf.

Assuming their DOBs in the wiki are correct, Niko in 2021 would still be younger than Michael and Trevor in 2013. Took me by surprise when I noticed.

Would you be up for Niko returning as a middle aged protagonist then, only talking hypothetically of course.

All issues like voice actor, not using previous protagonists etc put aside, I get the feeling a considerable number of IV fans would not want him to return whether as side character or main, cause the expectations will be too big and not meeting that would lead to some feeling the character got ruined or whatever. But I don't want to put words in anyone's mouth, just the feeling I get.

Personally Nikos arc got a fine ending and I don't think he needs to return but I wouldnt be against him appearing either tbh. Anyway I am not serious about Niko returning, just when I realized Niko would today still be younger than Michael and Trevor I was like woah. Then I thought about what if a version of Niko akin to Michael were to appear and so I posted this.

I find it weird how VC and SA have no landmass connection to the rest of the US at all unlike LC, which at least gave off a good sense of realism with the landmass in Shoreside Vale, even though it was fake. It's strange how both maps are surrounded by nothing but lots of water for miles.

I think VC's map could've been better if R* added the everglades in, accessible or otherwise.
