I literally only just found out the Ammunation clerk in San Andreas is Danny Mastrogiorgio who voiced Toni in LCS!

Mind. Blown! How the f*ck did I never put these two together?

To add to that, the guy who voiced the Cluckin' Bell employees in SA also did the voice work for Vincenzo Cilli in LCS.

You know, in his last stand, Vincenzo tries to get Toni killed on that cargo ship with all the chainsaw wielders... and then he can return to that ship for a side mission, for which the ultimate prize is... a chicken outfit. Can't be a coincidence.

I wonder why Rockstar hasn’t released the in-game movie Meltdown in higher quality. I can understand em not doing so on Xbox 360/PS3 release to save storage but surely they gotta have a higher resolution version. I can’t find any version on YouTube that’s higher quality than 360p so I guess rockstar never released a higher resolution version on PS4/Xbox One/PC. Question is how come?

Probably because they deleted all of the source material (audio, animations, models, maps etc.) they recorded it with.

Remember how Rich Rosado said they couldn't find the original source material for III, VC and SA's audio files and character models when they were working on the Defective Editions?

I understand you guys hate the "definitive" editions of the GTA trilogy but I just thought I'd share this. Totally worth it.

I meant that I’d expect them to have an at least 1280x720 version of it somewhere. Not piece by piece of the whole thing with models, animations, audio but a completed version, just at a higher resolution. I guess not....

Loooved that movie, the way it poked fun at almost every cliche was brilliant

"Finally, he said the title! Good, we can use this in the trailers".

"Or my best friend who got written out". "Let's talk in the park for literally no reason".

On this note, The Loneliest Robot in Great Britain is pretty much Rockstar's take on movies like Falling Down or more recently, Joker, which came out much later.

tbh I wouldn’t be surprised if some edgelord posts that Jewish caricature meme and is all like LOOOOL THIS IS RAMI YALON TOPPEST KEK

Regardless of what he looks like, I 100% know he would ne made using Niko’s character model like nearly every other male character in that game

From the description on gta wikia, I imagine Franco Forelli as a short fat dude. Like Paulie from Goodfellas.

Giovanni Ancelotti meanwhile, I like to imagine he'd be based off Uncle Junior from the Sopranos, or Salvatore's Uncle we met in LCS.

As for the Pavano boss we never met, Mary Valvona Monica Bellucci.

Having binged and marathoned lots of FPS games over my life, I've recently been looking a lot into their game designs and I think I've realised quite a few things regarding GTA. People often criticise Rockstar's game design for being stale and straightforward, e.g. drive to point A, kill X number of enemies, drive to point B. While not untrue, I think it's completely irrelevant. What makes a lot of classic FPS games (like Doom, Quake, Half-Life, so on) work is how they feel and that applies to GTA too. I've always had more fun in GTA IV than in GTA V regarding gunplay, and the reason is clear to me now. GTA IV has better gun design, and that matters more than having "intricate" level design or whatever.

GTA IV's weapons feel good to shoot. They look cool, sound powerful, feel like they pack a bunch with how they throw their targets around, and just overall make you feel satisfied for using them successfully. This can be said for many 3D era weapons as well. VC's M4 (or the dark assault rifle if that's the wrong name) looks and sounds really strong, and it feels very satisfying to use with how it cuts off enemies' limbs. The RPG(s) in the Renderware games were all awesome because the sound that comes out when you fire it, the way the vehicle you targeted explodes, as well as other minute details, made the weapon extremely fun to use. And that sort of thing just doesn't exist in GTA V for me for several reasons.

GTA V has an abundance of weapons that are all too similar to each other, not feeling distinct unlike weapons in the other games. But their shooting sounds are very generic and their firing animations aren't that good. The firing sounds in GTA V sound like what you'd hear in a "Realistic weapon sounds" mod for SA. But the biggest letdown with them is their lack of power. GTA V's weapons don't feel satisfying to use for me because your hits don't feel like they connect or really do anything. Enemies don't flinch of get knocked back, just go into a mild trance. And, due to the fact that all enemies have aimbot, I never feel rewarded for succeeding in fighting a crowd of enemies due to the lack of engagement. GTA IV's shootouts might be too easy, you'd have a point there, but due to the gun design, they're always fun for me. In GTA IV, shootouts are easy but fun - not something I can say for GTA V where strategising doesn't come naturally, and gunfights feel like a chore, not a gore fest.

Think about Doom. Pretty sh*tty "level" design overall. But the creative design, how the guns fire, how their impact is visualised and the game's overall art direction all come together to make you feel like a badass for shooting through corridors and big rooms. That feeling is very common across all shooters, and especially GTA, where mindlessly shooting through crowds for hours on end never gets old. But it simply doesn't begin in GTA V in the first place. Looking back, SA was kinda like this too. Its weapon sounds are pretty strange, and sound like airsoft or... I don't know, something else. Not guns though. But killing enemies was satisfying regardless because you see your bullets connect, enemies flinch on hit and blood comes out. That should be the bottom line. Shootouts should be fun, not "challenging" although a combination is definitely appreciable when done properly.

GTA IV's travel dialogue during missions is starting to get on my nerves (even more so in TLAD and TBOGT!), and reducing the sound effects volume doesn't help either. You sit next to some guy in a car and a waterfall of audio starts pouring.

Like WTF yo, shut the hell up for a minute, I'm busy listening to the radio over here!

I don't mind the conversations as much as the fact that sometimes the longer ones are during a short drive so I have to stop right before the mission marker and let them finish. It kinda ruins the pacing at times.

Seems like this is an issue with other HD titles. They start writing longer car ride dialogues for GTA IV onward. But sometimes they don't consider the distance and how long it takes for the trip in average.

I don't mind the driving dialogue so much.

What I did find a bit irritating sometimes though was the constant casual dialogue in the midst of a heist shootout in V story mode, compare this to Three Leaf Clover where the situation really feels intense and other than Derrick's remarks about The Troubles, there's not much casual conversation, it's like Rockstar felt the only way V would keep our attention is if characters never stopped talking.

Regarding the anniversary outfits, I've long been at a point where I view any news related to GTA Online the same way Harrison Ford is known to answer people who ask him about Star Wars trivia; I don't care

Am I the only one who finds the Lost clubhouse confusing to navigate? It's my first time playing and I seem to always be unable to find the clubhouse door exit and end up going to the roof and taking the stairs down somehow. And I thought Nikos Bohan safe house was confusing... I feel like those anime characters with no sense of direction 💀

Was it so hard for rockstar to correct this?

Some of the stats in San Andreas are really there for the f*ck of it. Stamina, don’t take my word for granted but isn’t this stat basically useless once 10K is stolen in burglary missions? I did steal about 15K at one go after the first mission in the game. I am not bitching that it’s too easy to complete and make Carl never get tired. My point is the Stamina stat becoming completely irrelevant.

There is also what, Max Health? Completely useless stat after the paramedic mission is done.

Not a huge deal but really, why even have those stats?

Replaying SA, first act in Los Santos feels grounded in a way. What the f*ck happens once Carl gets to Las Venturas. San Fierro ain’t the start of weirdness, it’s the Las Venturas country side.

For whatever reason there's a daily police spending stat in all 3D era games (IIRC?) that randomizes each time you access the stats menu. I don't think they get any more useless than that.

I remember reading in the Bradygames guide that collecting the horseshoes does increase luck but, in the final, they barely do anything. Maybe it’s something that got dummied out idk

I think they don't want the players to get addicted with the in-game gambling feature, hence they dumb it down it lol. The horseshoes could be there just for the sake of having different collectibles for different cities.
