FanEu7 573
Just found this video, the themes are really good and depressing but I think it would have gotten repetitive to hear them all the time when Niko gets killed. I wish they used them in some missions instead though. Michael Hunter did a really good job with GTA IV's themes (especially the main theme) Edited January 10 by FanEu7
billiejoearmstrong8 5,508
I heard it was meant to be for when your health was very low rather than when you actually got wasted (which makes sense imo) but that they decided while it worked well in missions it would be silly if you just randomly had low health in freeroam and ended up scrapping the idea Edit: Yeah this is one of the comments on the video, sounds legit to me: Quote Having worked on the development of this game, I can tell you these were supposed to trigger at critical health to build tension. They were later removed as it seemed unnecessary when not on a mission and just roaming around hitting a tree and falling into critical health. When used in missions it did make you tense up and pay attention though, I felt they should have been left in for missions but there wasn’t really a vote on it as far I know it was just cut and gone. They were later used however for he pause menu and loading screens. Edited January 11 by billiejoearmstrong8

It would have gotten repetitive even if it was just used in missions. Maybe only in the most intense/saddest ones?
0nyx 3
Love it, I love all of this. Michael Hunter isn't really talked about very much outside of just this game's community, but I feel all of the original compositions from GTA IV are f*cking incredible. I'm sad there wasn't more, because there are moments that would have been made by that...moments like the game's opening, for which I have no words. I don't know where the best place to use these would be but I'll think about it some more. I'm always analyzing the music I hear, especially in games, because it's essential in setting the mood or tone of the moment, or building ambience and immersing yourself in the game. I really wanna try and find some way to implement this, to really make it fit!
