So I’ve collected and sold every set multiple times many over 10 and I’ve completed every Naturalist animal page. I still have never found this coin and the exact same thing for my brother. We have spent a few evenings only going for coins. It’s just ridiculous so I’m just wondering if they even have available anymore or maybe glitched. I think I have 10 or more of every other coin and it drives crazy when I sell a few of them to Madam and she says you can make a lot more selling the whole set. Like no kidding... I would suggest you also look in those "random" locations, not just the coin locations. Some of the arrowheads and fossils (Megafauna) are a lot rarer than others also. The jeanropke map has a place that tells you the percentages of spawn rates for the random things. aaronBLUEeyes Posted January 11, 2021 Share Posted January 11, 2021 For me the hardest items to find are: 1800 Gold Quarter, Duchess Emerald Earrings, Elliston Carved Bracelet, Quartz & Obsidian Arrowheads. At one time coins would be in a certain place so you could use the map to track them down. Every day each coin would be somewhere on the map. Crazy. There is something strange going on with collectables now. Mark gets coin sets fairly easily. I collect at exactly the same locations but don't get as many sets. Many times the things you can't find in arrowhead, coin, or jewelry locations can be found in the random places. On the jeanropke maps those are the black locations with a metal detector icon or a shovel icon for those who don't know. That happened to me before when I needed the liberty qtr. My posse mate dug it up and when I went to dig I got nothing which means whatever was there for me I already had 10 of. That really pissed me off cuz I had been looking for it for a week. Once I went on PS4 to find stuff and I was writing down locations and what was there then when I went on PC different things were at those locations. From what I can tell, the rare things spawn about once per week, though I did spend 13 days trying to find just 1 particular megafauna fossil once. Krommer Posted January 13, 2021 Share Posted January 13, 2021 Once the ones people mention went "random", instead of being ones you could target with the collector's map: I basically stopped doing those. I only rarely check now, with me accidentally getting the ones like "all arrowheads" or "coins"; otherwise I only do the ones I can really target like the jewelry that shows up on the map still, while I accidentally got the "random only" ones when it was a "collector's 3 jewelry rings" or whatever daily. So the sets I mainly try to finish are the ones you just "can", like Tarot/Heirloom and such. I've also accidentally completed a couple fossil sets when it was "dig up with shovel" or "fossils" as a daily. I doubt if they will improve it with the 10 more collector levels. No Homing Posted January 16, 2021 Share Posted January 16, 2021 When they made it random I at first thought that you could stilll get all 15 coins every day, that there wouldn't be any duplicates but just which coin is at which spot is completely random. AdamNortonUK Posted January 16, 2021 Share Posted January 16, 2021 (edited) They're rare but it seems that because they are listed alphabetically in the rare items loot tables in the game files, you end up getting the first rare coin in the list and it doesn't deviate, so the game loads you the first in the list most of the time and if you have maxed out on that coin, you get nothing, instead of it giving you the next rare coin in the list. So whilst it's no longer possible to be able to sell at least one coin set a day, it seems that you may only get one chance per week to get a complete coin set, and per week is being very generous now due to how Rockstar have implemented the random spawns for most items. So they need to fix a few things so that it's not pulling from the loot tables alphabetically. I can go through the list and post the most rarest items, I just need to find the loot tables again as I've not taken much of a look since not that much was added for the Bounty Hunter expansion.
