He helped him with Florian and paid him pretty well. He was only annoyed at Ray's handling of the diamond deal and given how that turns out I really don't blame him. It's not like he went on some spiteful vengeance quest after him. I consider him one of Niko's greatest adversary's.. it was clear from the beginning that Niko didn't like Ray.. don't think it was necessarily business oriented but more his personal ethics.. his character.. Niko likes straightforward, honest people with integrity.. something Ray does not have.. I really wish Rockstar had kept the choice in pest control.. To me Niko’s attitude to him isn’t that much different to Vlad, Francis etc and other shady, non-forthcoming people he comes across. Ray isn't nearly as bad as Francis and Vlad who threaten Niko multiple times and try to screw him over & force him to do certain jobs. Ray was greedy but pretty loyal. I’m not saying he’s worse than Vlad or Francis, but maybe Niko’s experience with those type of people was wearing thin and his intolerance became more apparent as the story wore on. I get the diamond deal mess wasn’t entirely Ray’s fault, but he was still enough of a reason to get under Niko’s skin. It would’ve been a difficult choice as Phil never really wronged Niko either. If it was a choice on my first play through I probably would’ve chosen Ray for the reasons stated. Phil told Niko about Ray's political moves within mafia and it was apparent he was ass kisser and influence peddling rat when he wanted cut from Niko for introduction to Pegorino. Because Ray buccino found that there was people selling the diamonds. So he ordered johnny and his squad to get the diamonds. Then Ray tells niko and johnny to sell the diamonds and get the money so he could pay them. Sadly Ray didn't get his money from the diamond deal so he had ordered niko to try to get him the diamonds, no matter what Ray told Niko to do Ray still failed to get the diamonds and the money after the diamond deal. That is why i like him for that. I also think his personality is great and he is a man of his words when he helped Niko to look for Bernie Cravic. Francis was a corrupt cop and a hypocrite, but he paid well, helped Niko, and never backstabbed him. Hell, if you spare Francis, he wipes off Niko's LCPD records. Be-Deliver Posted July 27, 2021 Share Posted July 27, 2021 Hmmm, I find Ray to be a greedy, threatening mobster but what struck me about him is that he never backstabbed anyone. The only time he'll go after you is when you doublecross him like what happened to Johnny when he ran away and took the money from the botched diamond deal, and the dudes who got murdered by Niko in Middle Park for stealing the diamonds. From there, I find Ray to be one of the most unluckiest characters in the whole franchise.
