Parlay

Hello good people of the RDR2 online community.

Has anyone else got into a frustrating situation where an aggressor to your posse parlays and continues to grief you?

Scenario; myself and my posse (had about 6 of us playing. minding our own business, hunting gathering what have you). Buddy comes up and tries to dead-eye (somehow misses) one of us, so we kill him and move on. He then parlays with us (this is fine, like I said we moved on and didn't care). We are a large group (roughly about 12 of us total) and we dont like to 'cop out' and be on defensive all the time. If youre wanting a fight, we will fight, but dont pussy out and parlay and hide when you attacked us.

He then is following us, throwing explosives at us purposely being a sh*tlord. Is there really any way we can either, not auto-accept the parlay or not allow explosives to still cause damage/ragdoll us?

The only way I expect you can get around that is to wait for the attacking player to hit one of you, then I don't think they get the option to parlay when they get killed in return.

Maybe I'm wrong, don't know for sure, I've never been on that end of it.

I've been attacked plenty and parlayed when I didn't feel like retaliating.

If they then wanted to continue to attack they had to wait out the time limit or use cheats.

That being said, anyone who attacks a posse + is either an idiot or up to some kind of unauthorized shenanigans (cheating) so they think they can get away with it.

Twice I've been attacked, re-spawned and killed them, then had the attackers parlay me. But I was still in foul mood from the first attack and found out I was able to trample-kill them because parlay has no effect on my horse. It's really fun, you can almost see the surprised look on their characters faces. Make the first hit count cause they never see it coming.

If I remember correct the parlay only affects the person that actually did the killing which leaves the other posse members open for attack. Unless R* fixed that.

No if someone parlay's one person in the posse, it blocks everyone :( even if you leave the posse.

Ok, it's been fixed. Last time I was attacked by a posse and used parlay they could still come after me. Didn't notice the one that killed me originally doing anything. That was quite a while ago though. Back on PS4 b4 the PC version came out. Wow, it's been a year since PC?

I'm in defensive, just because I'm alone. I had some guys after me, after I killed them several times when they blew up my bounty wagon with the bounty in it (for no good reason.)

Then they proceeded to try to kill me while I was trying to resupply dynamite, in Van Horn and Emerald station (they were kind of smart, spotting me at Emerald by the fence and when I "evaporated" they went to Van Horn where I went to get the dynamite, this is on Xbox One, so they were not using mods or anything/just a good guess on their part.)

But what I found to be a GREAT way to get out of someone you don't want to bother you pvp'ing you, is to go to your campfire on the quick menu and hit it then "fast travel" wherever.

I did that while those irritating people were trying to kill me. So from their point of view, I probably warp over to the nearest campfire, take a knee and then immediately evaporate  ;)

So if you all had that, it would have been hilarious for you to all do that with the "reverse griefer" trying to pursue you with explosives.

Similar to the GTA mechanic where you can kill a passive player with a car.

You drive at them at high speed and ditch the vehicle at the right moment and it’ll smack and kill them.

Yeah, it doesn't work like that. It's not like defensive. I think you can always parley after a death.

Parley doesn't always apply to the whole posse. If someone parleys with a non posse leader then it does not parley the entire posse. It's only the leader who can do that. That's how I understand it anyway.

But going back to the original question. If someone parleys after you kill them then it's not up to you to accept or not. It just happens. There is really no way to stop players throwing dynamite to mess with you. What I would suggest you do is get to a fast travel and jump somewhere else. It's unlikely they will bother trying to follow you. Or ever better get a new session.

There are ways to cancel a parley so you can get revenge but I won't post it here. If you really want to know then send me a message. It is a useful method and I've found it forces the other person to change session when you repeatedly kill them.

While I have been forced into unwanted PvP many times, only one of those was truly annoying.

I was trying to do a delivery solo and got attacked by a posse.   The first surprise was that they did not try to steal the cart, instead they used it as bait to mess with me, sniping me as I tried to recover it.  They were pretty terrible players and I could kill them but they would respawn too close so that I could not get away.  They were gaining nothing, all they wanted was to waste my time.

It took me a few minutes but I figured out how to handle them:  Blow up my own cart, give them the finger, start a new session on a different server, and do the delivery as planned.   I am so looking forward to the next time someone tries to grief me that way again, just to piss them off when their griefing backfires.
