IceDree
Welcome to the third iteration of Looking back, Vehicles Edition. R* threw us a curved ball with the 2020 selection, a mixed selection of cult classics, TV stars, desirable sports cars, go-carts, the return of Benny's Originals, airplanes, 2 new bikes, the introduction of Formula 1 to the Grand Theft Auto universe, frickin submarine! & new boats for the first time in 4 years. And to top it all, we got new wheels for the first time since the introduction of Benny back in 2015. The quality of said vehicles varied in typical R* fashion & some shortcuts were made. The same people who gave us the Weevil, gave us the Landstalker XL. Like previous years, I'm looking to hear from you guys & gals, of the 2020 collection what did you buy? what's your thoughts about them? & so on. Luckily this year R* was somewhat "generous" with garage space, Connoisseurs & Collectors breathed a sigh of relief & joy with 2 more garage slots earlier this year. Unfortunately, AvGeeks weren't so lucky & difficult decisions had to be made. Feel free talk about how it affected your collection, You're among friends here. To recap here's a list of all the vehicles released in 2020: Spoiler The Cayo Perico Heist: - Rune Kosatka. - Western Co. Annihilator Stealth. - Kraken Avisa. - Kurtz 31 Patrol Boat. - sh*tzu Longfin. - RO-86 Alkonost. - Sparrow. - Peggasi Toreador. - Vapid Winky. - Grotti Itali RSX. - Grotti Brioso 300. - BF Weevil. - Dinka Veto Classic. - Dinka Veto Modern. - Vapid Slamtruck*. - Mammoth Squaddie*. - Vetir*. - Nagasaki Weaponized Dinghy*. - Maibatsu Manchez Scout*. - Dinka Verus*. The Los Santos Summer Speical. - Imponte Beater Dukes. - Benefactor BR8A. - BF Club. - Invetero Coquette D10A. - Declasse DR1. - Bravado Gauntlet Classic Custom. - Benefactor Glendale Custom. - Dundreary Landstalker XL. - Albany Manana Custom. - Maibatsu Penumbra FF. - Vapid Peyote Custom. - Canis Seminole Frontier. - Lampadati Tigon. - Declasse Yosemite Rancher. - Bravado Youga Classic 4x4. The Diamond Casino Heist (remaining dripfeed content released in 2020): - RUNE Zhaba. - Karin Sultan Classic. - Nagasaki Outlaw. - Declasse Drift Yosemite Drift. - Dinka Sugoi. - Dinka Blista Kanjo. - Nagasaki Stryder. - Överflöd Imorgon. - Albany V-STRA. -Progen PR4A. - Ocelot R88. TL;DR: How did your collection change? What did you buy (both from MY2- & older)? What are you planning to buy from the dripfeed? What did you sell? & What would you consider your "Vehicle of The Year"? Like usual, I appreciate it if we can keep this constructive. ___ Related thread: [Vehicles] The Official B*tch & Moan Topic. AUScowboy
While we didn't get top tier wishlist cars like a Comet Classic, ZR350, or Dom/Bullet Classics, we did get a lot of deeper cuts and mid tier wishlist cars. I'm gonna include cars from Casino Heist since most did release in 2020. Sultan Classic, Kanjo, Sugoi, all of the open wheel cars (okay, those probably classify as top tier wishlist fodder..), Furia, D10 Coquette, Club, Penumra FF, Yosie Rancher, Gauntlet CC, Beater Dukes, DR1 and BR8 are 10/10, and now the highlights from CPH: Weevil, Willy, Itali GTX, Kosatka (they outdid themselves, it makes the Avenger look dinky and that is a perfect model with amazing funtion), the Stealth Annhilator looks good at least, Manchez Scout should have been a 500cc 2 stroke monster. The Toreador is very fun and useful but like the Ardent and Deluxo and Stromberg it should have a stock raceable version. That alone will perpetually bum me out. Overall it wasn't a bad year for cars, we got a few epic ones like the GCC, Sultan Classic, OW cars, Dinka compacts, and good sports cars like the FF, GTX and supers like the Trax, Furia and Tigon. Surprising how few supers we got now in hindsight, hopefully 2021 will bring some more classic super like the EB110 and Grotti based on F50. The weaponized fare for this year was a mixed bag, the aircraft were lame despite having great models but stuff like the Kosatka and Kurtz have been homeruns. For 2021 hopefully they add an F-14, Cobra heli, modern Russian fighter and maybe a Hydra 2.0 based solely on the F-35. That would be my biggest suggestion, please stop mixing military aircraft from different countries. It's jarring enough when they do it with cars like the GT/Vulcan for the FMJ, it's even more glaring when they do it with aircraft and military vehicles in general. The Alkonost looks weird as hell with cues from the B1 mixed in.. Edited December 31, 2020 by AUScowboy
Standard Deluxe 59
10. Kosatka: Admittedly this thing is a lot more fun than I would've ever expected. Sure it's pricey if you fully kit it out, but hey you can drive it, disrupt a try hard marksman waltz party and disappear below the waves before they figure out what just happened. 9. Maibatsu Penumbra FF: Its overpriced for sure but is mostly well modelled with next to no room for someone to confuse for something other than an Eclipse. 8. Pegassi Toreador: Well it's unique and useful for when you and two or more others need to go underwater. 7. Vapid Winky: An old little WWII era Jeep that's fairly well detailed, even down to the motor and military liveries. 6. Karin Sultan Classic: One the more hyped cars from last year, it mostly lived up to it. Of course its translucent taillight lenses, lack of a roll cage despite having near every other rally spec mod and lacking an Imprezza style spoiler were all let downs. It was fairly fun in the snow though. 5. Imponte Beater Dukes: A six figure beat up variant of a car that I can get for free, why is it number 5? Well because it's far more customizable than the standard Dukes, has a better engine model and somehow looks generally better. 4. Declasse Yosemite Rancher: Its essentially what the Yosemite should've been from the beginning, a stock looking C/K10 pickup. 3. Invetero Coquette D10: Alright so this was likely an inevitable addition given the widespread coverage and praise of the mid engined C8 Corvette. Still it's stunningly accurate as far as it's exterior design is concerned and almost has the modification options to make it resemble the C8R race car. 2. Bravado Gauntlet Classic Custom: Had this car been based on the reworked Dukes, it probably would've taken the number one spot for me. It for the most part looks accurate to a Daytona/Superbird even if it's a tad on the small side. But plenty of customization, enough to make it look like either "winged warrior" car including a fair amount of historic NASCAR based liveries and being part of the Benny's revitalization almost makes up for that. Then again I still own 4. 1. Albany VSTR: This is my car of the year for 2020. It looks pretty good, drives good, has a reasonable amount of customization and it's the first modern American luxury car added since what, the Alpha? Regardless it was high time for an American brand to get a new luxury entry. Now if we could get a CT6, Continental, 300 or even a reworked IV Admiral that bears a greater resemblance to a Grand Marquis (really just the rear is off) that would be great. Honorable mentions: Dinka Blista Kanjo and Sugoi, RO-86 Alkonost, Grotti Itali RSX and Brioso 300, BF Weevil, Bravado Youga 4x4 and Canis Seminole Frontier. Casualties from lack of space: 1 Overflod Imorgan, 1 Grotti Furia, 1 Benefactor Glendale Custom, 1 Annis SUV that I don't remember the name of, 1 Stromberg, 1 custom Volatus and 1 Contender. That's what I remember getting rid of at least.
Willy A. Jeep
2020 was a complicated year, no doubt, and that's reflected in GTAO, not to mention my engagement with it. Lost a lot of free time this year and didn't have as much interest in the game in general after the Casino Heist, really feeling comfortable with my financial situation now (in-game, anyway). The vehicles were certainly varied and there are a few highlights for me, but for the most part changes to my fleet this past year have been minimal. I am looking forward to the Weevil, Slamtruck, and Manchez Scout, and still keeping a candle lit for a Checker Marathon analogue in the next year! The new purchases, the old purchases, and the liquidation sales all detailed below in no particular order. 2020 vehicles: Vapid Winky - Yay! Though I'm a bit bemused by the name, marque, and omission of a few customization options that I'd expect, I'm happy my namesake has finally received a proper analogue in GTAO. Bought two already, making space for a third! Canis Seminole Frontier - Another well-done Jeep with a few missing customization options keeping it from being perfect. Would have picked up a few of these rather than just the one if there had been more variety, but I'm happy all the same. Grotti Brioso 300 - Surprised to see this little thing making an appearance in GTAO! Though it's a bit oversized, it's still one of the nicest-looking models they've added, and it's hard not to have fun bouncing around in. And I got both for free! BF Club - I see an old Volkswagen Rabbit 4-door on the highway occasionally, and it's such a classic, I had to pick one up for character two. Would have preferred slightly less Escort mixed in, but that's not much of a complaint, eh? Dinka Blista Kanjo - Despite many members of the community being dissatisfied with this one, I've had quite a lot of fun buzzing around Los Santos in mine. Can't go wrong with those crazy Japanese street mods, either. Old vehicles: Weeny Issi Classic - Finally felt bothered enough to get one of these. Still a bit irritated with how wide the wheels are set, but it's fun and everybody seems to like seeing it among their supers and APCs and stuff. Imponte Deluxo - Won a second Deluxo at the casino wheel earlier this year. Did it up in gold to mimic those ultra-rare gold DeLoreans you see some fanatics drool over. All my friends hate it. It's great. Sold: Pegassi Osiris - Won at the casino wheel. Sat in a garage for a few weeks. Zero interest in keeping it. Poof! Bravado Gauntlet - Had this sitting around in the back of a garage for ages. Not sure why. Made space for one of the Winkys.
éX-Driver
Not counting the dripfeed from the Casino Heist [because it’s technically 2019 DLC], I’d say the best cars to me are the Beater Dukes, DR1, Yosemite Rancher, Weevil, and Penumbra FF. SummerFreeze
I like the Weevil, Brioso 300, and Veto Classic from the current DLC. The Manchez Scout should be great once it releases: extremely fun to drive because of its crazy wheelie, although customization is rather meh. The Summer Update wasn't to my taste. I only kept the Club from it. I do appreciate the Beater Dukes and Yosemite Rancher though. I believe the Beater Dukes is a precursor to the Weevil in its ability to be turned into two *very* different cars through body parts. The Baja Bug version of the Weevil is very similar to the Injection just like a clean Beater Dukes is similar (if not identical) to the original Dukes. From the remainder of the Casino Heist vehicles I kept the Sultan Classic, R88, and PR4; all very nice vehicles. I also owned the Zhaba for a while with zebra livery and Benny's wheels, so I only kept it as a joke, and it ran out its use as such eventually. LaserDiscHub
Looking back my favourites of the year is definitely the Weevil, Kosatka, and the Yosemite/Gauntlet Benny's upgrades. All of them offer some great fun and the cars have some great customization options. I like the Toreador as well but I'm waiting for it to appear on the lucky wheel. If I count the Casino Heist update the Vagrant, Kanjo (even though its driving experience is subpar), and PR4 are all great additions. The BR8 is also a really nice drive other than its disappointing livery selection and customization, but hopefully we will get a couple more open wheelers in the future. Along some wagons, Pfister's and a clean ZR380. As others said the aircraft was really disappointing this year and the Stealth Annihilator was quite a let down for me. The lack of new motorcycles was also pretty lackluster and I'm not sure why Rockstar is so reluctant to add more. Overall pretty decent year but could've been better vehicle wise for my tastes. eyman
The quality of vehicle designs has improved so much, that most of the recent cars are very close to their real life counterpart. Long gone are the days of blending two cars together and hoping for the best. There new design approach makes me very excited for next year and beyond. kudos R*. crsN

I actually don't think this is a sign of quality but the opposite. I like it but it's not exactly effort on their part at all. The cars almost look 90% the same with minor changes. It's fine but I'd like to see more creativity. Anyway 2020 in review as far as cars goes, this is the worst year there's been since 2014. Even 2018 provided far better. I'm not going to sugar coat it, nothing they've released has been far up my alley this year, and whatever comes close would've absolutely irritated the living f*ck out of me if I was in GTA:O and couldn't fix them. I hope they do better in 2021. Add more cars, most people look forward to them with the new upates, stop playing games. And then try harder. The Landstalker looks great but that interior is inexcusable. The Coquette looks exactly like a Corvette with a couple of inverted lines/angles and a worse front. Same case with the Itali RSX vs the SF90. And if you ask me, the Brioso is just a Fiat 500 with some different lights and badges but I love that thing. Why am I complaining if I like it? Because when Rockstar does try hard to be creative they can do some cool designs. Car of the year for me? Obviously the Itali RSX. Then the Coquette. Then the Landstalker XL. Then probably stuff like the Weevil/Brioso etc but they're not anything I drive long-term. 2020 is over and if you ask me this car selection was one of its many, but tiny, WTF moments. If I hadn't moved to PC and downloaded 200+ lore cars I'da shelved this game for good. Let's hope for a better 2021 y'all!
HamwithCheese
Much like the game, cars have been very meh, full of missed opportunities. The Rancher is easily the most versatile and thoroughly done vehicle but it's based off a nicely done model from years ago. D10, great looking, drives awfully, has a overused dash, sounds generic New Lowriders, long overdue but uses old customization options from much older cars Tigon, looks good, wheels get f*cking smaller of course Rsx, absolutely nothing unique to justify it's price I can go on and on but honestly the only bright spot in gta 2020 is just new wheels and an off-road truck. Black-Dragon96
Well it was a decent year overall. Sadly it been lacking in the super and sports department. I would have loved a new super with the attention to detail that the weevil got. We also did not get a single new motorcycle and that is very dissapointing. I bought (or won) 17 of the new vehicles, rebought (or won) some vehicles I sold years ago and bought (or won) a few older dlc vehicles. I have not really sold anything other than replacing the cars I won at the casino but I rarely sell vehicles anyway. There were however two vehicles that I bough but after some testing decided to sell again (Vapid Gurdian, Declasse Tampa) because they did not meet my expectations. Something that is not directly about vehicles but related to them. The amount of aircraft storage is still to little and thats very dissapointing and we could have used more garagespace with the Heist. My favourite vehicle of 2020 is definitly the Kosatka, closely followed by the weevil.

I actually prefer them to be 90% the same and I hope it continues. I don't like the idea of Rockstar blending two cars into one, because as we have seen, most of the time it just doesn't work. To me its as clear as picking the Paragon R over the Cognoscenti Cabrio
coelacanth72
The car of the year, hands down, is the club. I love that little bastard. Adding open wheel was huge, and the best update to the racing in gta since launch.
IceDree
2020 wasn't for me, at least car wise. The only MY20 cars I bought were the Grotti Itali RSX, Dundreary Landstalker XL, Dinka Sugoi & Albany V-STR. 2020 mostly revolved around downsizing and refining my collection, I sold a lot of stuff in 2020. Spoiler These are the vehicles are I sold in 2020: Emperor. Manana. Elegy RH-8. Gauntlet. Messa (Merryweather). Picador. Impaler. Mamba. Tampa. Tulip. Vamos. Voodoo Voodoo custom. Yosemite. Cognoscenti 55 armored. Cognoscenti 62. Cognoscenti 62. Cognoscenti 62 armored. Brioso R\A. Furia. Dukes. Nightshade. Coquette Classic. Novak (might've sold it in 2019, I don't remember exactly) Viseris. Patriot. 9F Coupe. (An extra one) Vacca. Bullet. Chino custom. Clique. Ellie. Faction GNX. Rapid GT. Hustler. Entity XF. Entity XXR. V-STR. Cavalcade I. Cavalcade II. Revolter (extra one). Buccaneer custom. Alpha. Virgo. Comet retro custom. Bati 801RR The Grotti Itali RSX. About time, R*, about damn time. The Dundreary Landstalker XL. I'm not a fan of the current Navigator, but R* did an ok job mimicking the exterior. The sum of all parts is not there though, this level of quality belongs to 2013. I don't care for it anymore and I might sell it. The Dinka Sugoi. I don't drive it that often, but I like it a lot. I'm planing on giving it a fresh coat of paint soon. Might even buy Blista Kanjo to complement both my Sugoi & Jester. The Albany V-STR. I already sold it, nothing to say here. Of the older vehicles, I bought a Lampadati Michelli GT, a Progen T20, a Weeny Issi Classic & a Benefactor Schwartzer. Actually, I bought more cars, but already sold them. Moving on from cars, I bought a Shotaro during the Black Friday sale & the Kosatka. The Kosatka is frickin awesome! Mine is bare boned at the moment, but I'll start gradually upgrading it soon. I'm definitely buying the RO-86 Alkonost, Annihilator Stealth, Longfin and Kurtz 31 Patrol Boat when they'll go on sale soon, might even buy 2 Annihilators (RIP bank account lol). For me, the star of 2020 is the Grotti Itali RSX. A proper & a well made Grotti. I guess that covers it for me.
