NULL AND VOID
Has anyone else dragged this slow piece of sh*t around Cayo Perico? I can't find any logical reason to open fire on any part of the island. What's the point of this thing..? I'm trying to formulate some type of aggressive approach to the heist so maybe you can help... Before or after entering the compound, and if at all, where would you attack with the patrol boat? What's the game plan
RyuNova
It's a shame that the Guards just spawn out of thin air infinitely. You could use this to assault and hold one of the docks. NULL AND VOID
Gridl0k
What happens if one+ of you stays in the boat while a couple go through the tunnel? Of course you could do that in a Longfin too. There are ways storming the island 4 up and taking what you want by force works, but none of them really depend upon an armed boat. I would have put a crew member in the alkonost and had them run airstrikes but eh Edited December 30, 2020 by Gridl0k NULL AND VOID

Everyone has to be in the Compound at the same time. You can't enter it unless everyone on the Heist is there. It would have made more sense if you could do stuff like attacking one of the docks which would draw Guards away from other areas. Dirty Hairy
Yeah I don’t think a lot of thought was put into these approach vehicles. A gunboat sounds like a great time on paper but the execution is flawed. I only used this as an approach just so I can get the discount. Funny part about that is I don’t even plan on buying the damn thing Edited December 30, 2020 by Dirty Hairy Rotorhead359 and NULL AND VOID 1
SummerFreeze
I guess you're supposed to take it into either dock; whichever has more cocaine and weed. Park it in the middle of the dock and leave one person in the front turret who should be able to fire at everything, while the rest of the crew grabs loot. Then get back into the boat and head for the drainage tunnel. Once inside the compound, fill the rest of your bags with whatever amount of gold there is. Now the question is does the boat despawn? (I know the Velum stays at the airfield if chosen as entry vehicle.) If the boat is still there after exiting the compound you could jump into the water and use it for the escape. Or just swim away. EDIT: I'll check if the boat despawns with my next heist. Edited December 30, 2020 by SummerFreeze NULL AND VOID
x_v
All vehicles despawn, except the Velum, including island vehicles, for attempted game balancing. You can't park a boat at the drainage tunnel and have a quick exfil, you can't park a Scout outside the wall you grapple over for a quick escape, etc. This attempted game balancing is also why guard locations are refreshed after looting the primary target. For these same reasons, you need the entire group to enter the compound, so that you don't have an easier path out, like what you'd have if only one person entered the compound with someone waiting with a vehicle at your preferred compound escape location. There's also a bug that will despawn vehicles during secondary looting before entering the compound, and the only fix for this I've found is to park the vehicle right next to the gate that you're looting. The only reason why the Velum stays is because it belongs to Rubio's smuggling operation, and we need it, as we're disguised as the smuggler, to continue the operation. Velum is a known and trusted vehicle, other infil vehicles are not, and presumably get destroyed. All other prep items getting destroyed, e.g. despawned, is in line with a lot of Pavel's dialogue. Game lore can explain everything else, like how Rubio is missing from the compound and only notices the missing primary after we exit, why out of place vehicles despawn, say if a guard notices the out of place vehicle, etc. Keep in mind they somehow detect and patch the drainage tunnel grate while we're in the compound, so lore really fills in the gaps. If it doesn't make sense, lore makes it make sense. SummerFreeze

Apart from that prep being annoying, the gunboat doesn't fire up enough to take out helicopters and you get aimbotted off the gun faster than a rookie does from a nightshark by FMJ rounds... That whole boat is pointless. The longfin is actually alright I brought that thinking it will be good instead of a dingy when some noob takes me on act2 with 3 players and me on air support alone... I actually had some moron message me to get a jet ski like that. I'm like yeah what about the other guy... Then I realised toreador is usable in heists and you can race/beat the stromberg to the sub, then pick them up right from under the water with that. EkaSwede
Eugh, the Patrol Boat. It was my first approach I chose because I thought it looked cool. It's... a bit sluggish for my tastes and seemed kind of pointless in the end. At least you use it once to check it off the approach vehicles used list and then move on to the better approach vehicles. Not to say it's completely garbage. I'm sure some people can make some really cool and fun use of it. NULL AND VOID

I'm aware most people do this order anyway, but then you might as well use the Kosatka or Longfin entry. But I loot the docks/airfield first anyway, assuming there is not enough gold in the compound. Then use swim escape, or guard uniforms (that still work after exiting the compound) to get to other escape points.
