Vice Cit
There are three (four if you count the skull on the obelisk) skeletons on Cayo Perico. One is a dead smuggler holding a brick of cocaine, one is a party guest, and one is a smuggler in a boat under water. The party guest's clothing and bag still look very new so we will write this one off as unrelated. The smuggler holding the brick of coke was most likely killed and put there by El Rubio for betraying or disrespecting him. So we're left with the smuggler in the crashed boat underwater. These are the two reasons I can think of for this; 1. The DEA damaged the boat while it was leaving and it sunk, the smuggler died while trying to escape. 2. There was a storm and the boat crashed. Either way the skeleton has been there for a long time since bodies decompose slower in water. However the body is in tropical waters so my best guess is the body has been there for 10-20 years. There is a shipwreck off the coast of Cayo Perico with tanks and trunks scattered around. The tanks in the wreck are not the current tanks we have in the game. They're WW2 era, the closest resemblance I could find was the British matilda. There's also an ammunition box that has the date 1978 on it. My best guess is that the cartel that owned the island before El Rubio purchased these tanks and munitions and the ship either crashed or was attacked. There is an old looking graveyard on the island surrounded by wooden fences. If you send a picture of it to Pavel he will tell you it was there before El Rubio was. There is no writing on the gravestones to indicate any time period but some graves look older than others. The cartel who ran the island before El Rubio may have buried their fallen here as the fencing around it doesn't look older than 10-20 years. In the water in front of the drainage pipe there is a corpse wrapped in plastic in the trunk of what looks to me like a car similar to the Nissan 200SX which was a popular car in the 80s. The car has been down there for a very long time, most likely before El Rubio. 4weird, Gentlebreeze, Opzeker and 1 other 2
DexMacLeod
Personally, I think all that stuff is just there to create a sense of history on the Island rather than a tease of future stories. It's just basic world building. Dirty Hairy, Crafty-, fryday and 1 other
Timsalabimbo
There are also three skeletons on the small island closest to the Main Dock. They are wearing what looks like conquistador-era armor and one of them lays next to what looks like the remains of a cannon. And there is another graveyard on the slightly bigger island close to the Main Docks. This one has the graves in a circle. If you send a picture of that to Pavel he will say how creepy it is. It would not surprise me if the armour you find is ripped from that as well.

I swam out to that island to have a look, and it does appear to be the armour worn by the dead conquistador you can find at the top of Mt. Hagen in RDR2, whose helmet Arthur can take for himself. The cannon (which is just the carriage, there's no barrel for it) is probably from that game as well. Annoyingly it didn't occur to me to save a picture of it while I was there, although I did send it to Pavel and he had a comment about how we're not the first adventurers to come to rob the island. But yea, as soon as I read what armour it was wearing I assumed it would be the one from RDR2. Thats the reason the bushes are like steel, the model and texture has been ripped but not the physics as it's likely the old GTA engine won't work very well with the much newer RDR2 engine. It's on top of the thin island near the entrance of the main dock. It's in the middle of the fattest part of the island, but you'll have to climb up at the thin end where it's not as high.
