Dr Busta
So someone uploaded his chat with MC Eiht Asking him if he had problems with Rockstar And he said that that's how they wanted it to go So I guess if Ryder wasn't supposed to be a traitor then they changed it right after the countryside chapter since after that one chapter ryder starts getting called Traitor next to smoke and they changed it so smoke would have a partner who would work on the street while smoke is the brain and the way Ryder acts especially in "house party" has the Traitor vibe DenjiChainsawman, MrPikmin16 and Petrolhex
Petrolhex
And yet despite all this the Ryder betrayal theory does expose some plotholes on Rockstar's part. I think this is all just a case of Rockstar biting off more than they could chew even if Eiht did all of his job. After all I could imagine that with a map like San Andreas's being hard to make work on the PS2, and along with adding in more side-activities, more detailed car models, car customization etc. Rockstar's hands were so full that it necessitated cuts to the game's plot to keep the game development in schedule. After all the final game already pushed a hundred missions and even with that amount it feels like parts of the game's map were still left unexplored from a mission standpoint. Cutting pieces of game plot isn't uncommon either, you can see examples of this in games like KOTOR2, Ultima VIII and New Vegas. Now I wonder if its possible that Ryder was intended to betray you but it was originally going to be done much later on in the game's plot, and having it be done earlier in Green Sabre (with the dialogue that doesn't mention Ryder) was just a way to quickly tie up the plot thread for the GSF betrayals later on in development. watersgta3
MC Eiht never had any problems with Rockstar. So the theory that he was probably too busy recording rap albums during the game's production to have any time to record any new dialogue for the character is more believable. Whatever the real reason was, Ryder's betrayal was not written well at all. Like what I said I think Ryder was had other plans for Ryder like reappearing at the end / dying etc But I don't think they planned on making him next to CJ during his journey Anyways when they reached the San fierro part and the revenging story started a bit they felt like smoke needed a partner who works on the street and represents Grove and him(smoke won't get killed in San fierro and making it a random unnamed GSF member would be cheap) so they decided to just add Ryder next to him in the green sabre cutscene and that's why Ryder's betrayal started getting mentioned in the San fierro chapter And maybe Ryder's betrayal would have been revealed in photo opportunity
